Hi all.

 

It's been around three months now since VAICOM PRO was launched. Thanks for the supportive comments!

The following items have been put on the feature wishlist and will be looked into

 

1) Extended JTAC callsigns range support

2) Support for Cargo flows

3) Additional F10 menu support

 

I'm sure there's more, but these will be prioritized.

P.S. Regarding multiplayer in general note that server administrators can set 'player export' to disabled, which prevents apps like e.g. simshaker and VAICOM PRO from functioning.

Ask your admin to enable this feature for a more immersive MP experience.

I noticed in one of the last missions in the Mirage campaign ther are some jtac menu details requiring F9 to be pressed. Would there be a functionality to add these phrases along with the F10 ones? Cheers pal

Hi guys. I just want to add in a command to get the AWACS 'request bogey dope' into Viacom. Can someone please tell me how to do this? I have tried, but I just don't understand where and how to put the command in!

Have you tried to say "Awacs request vector to bandit" or for example "Magic request vector to bandit"? Or do you specificly want to say "request bogey dope" instead?

I haven't tried those, no. I'll give it a go, but saying 'bogey dope' would be easier!

I just don't understand how these commands are defined. When I select 'add new' in the configuration window, it is not obvious to me what to do! I looked in the manual but couldn't see much help. (Could be me!)

There is a detailed section in the manual that walks step by step how to add in a custom command, IIRC.

I wish you could tell me where. I've looked through all 50 pages, and can see nothing about adding commands.

Keywords editor -> find command 'Request Vector to Bandit' -> Add New -> change 'Request Vector to Bandit 1' to ' Bogey Dope', press Apply -> FINISH steps (see manual).

OK, so after configuring everything, I tried this out in DCS, and as the last time I tried several months ago, I just can't get it to work.

I think my problem may be the mic. I am using the mic from a built-in camera, and the commands just don't work at all when playing DCS. If I mute the sound from the game, then VA/VIACOM recognises the commands, but when the engine sounds, etc. are on, then - more or less - nothing works with the voice commands.

Is it necessary to have a headset or dedicated mic to make this work? Or, what else might be wrong here?

Nice I'm glad to hear you will be adding additional jtacs. Awesome software and very decent customer service. Can't wait to continue to use it in campaigns and so forth.

I can only talk for myself, but I have a Sennheiser GSP headset which is known for a very good mic but I could not get that to work when I had it connected to my onboard audio card or a PCI Asus Xonar card because the input volume was to low for VAICOM to pick up what I said. I bought a small USB Soundcard which I use only for the headset mic and that made a huge difference. Now it works well.

Thanks Fisherman. The impression I get with me is that the sounds from the game are affecting VA's ability to distinguish my commands. Am I totally wrong about that?

Volume seems OK, and as I said above, everything works OK with DCS sound off.

Something is wrong with the way I have this set up anyway.

Yes for voice recognition use a dedicated and well-positioned microphone or headset.

Any off-the-shelf basic headset of medium quality (e.g. Logitech or similar) is suitable.

Thanks Hollywood. So it won't work properly without a headset? I wish I'd known that before purchasing the 2 licences as I don't want to use a headset. I don't think I saw that being mentioned in the manuals, but I might be wrong there.

To be honest, I'm a little confused. Why does the speech recognition in Windows work OK for me? And, if I scroll through the commands in Viacom, they are all recognised OK after a bit of tweaking some awkward ones.

Is it the sound coming from DCS that is confusing things?

I have been thinking that the noise from the case-fan in my computer could cause background noise that would cause problems for VAICOM. So if you are using speakers I would think that the microphone picks up sounds from them when you are flying DCS creating a difficult situation for the speech recognition. I would definitly use headphones instead.

I’m able to run voice attack and I’m able to run Viacom pro but have to input keys each time it works. But how do you assign the ptt button in the Huey? If i load the chatter i hear it in the background but I’m not able to get voice recognition to work in the Huey. I did the Microsoft voice recognition training it use to come on but didn’t last night. That an∂ ho wto combine two or more profiles together and i might have the va plugin down. Iheatrd read that you should only use one profile for voice attack Viacom pro, how do i add the commands in my helo profiles i bought from a user here to the Viacom profile?

@BlacleyCole Not sure I follow. The Huey is no different from any other module, like most helos it has a single-PTT config.

Select the TX node you want to use with the dropdown on the PTT page. Details in the manual.

VoiceAttack has the option to copy and paste commands between profiles so if you want you can use that.

So, I’ve had to give up on this which is a real shame as it seems exactly what I was looking for to avoid all the annoying comms menus in DCS.

I can’t see how a separate mic would work any better, as it will have to deal with the sounds coming from the external speakers in the same way as my internal mic. So, it looks like a headset is the only option, and that is something I can’t really use.

I have a set up where I have my DCS sounds coming in on my speaker but I use a headset for all of my voice calms. Having that headset close to your mouth will allow you to be able to use the Viacom without issue.

Sounds good, but for me, I already have my TrackIR on a baseball cap, so I don’t really want to battle with a headset on top or under.

Have you tried the track clip pro? It connects to your headset and not a baseball cap. I hate to see you miss out on a good program for something with an easy workaround.
