Yes I did. Changed nothing. But I tried out headphones too, and same phenomenon as with Rift audio. Everything comes from my headset (including Chatter) all right, only until I fire up DCS. The only way to hear Chatter too from my Headset or Rift, if I change Rift to Default Output Device in VoiceAttack Options/Audio, pressing Change now too. But then, when I come out of DCS and VA, default output device setting doesn't switches back to speaker, as I would use it all other time, outside of DCS.
I belive the audio settings in VA has ONE purpose only, and that is to assume you gonna use a headset while using it. So you have the option to dynamically switch audio outputs while using it, and have them switch back when you close it. After all you are gonna use voice recognition through a mic. Might as well not have full blown 13.2 surround interfere.

What happens if you set ALL audio settings in DCS to default, all VA settings to default, no check boxes ticked or forced. Change top in VA to integrated instead of media component, top drop down, (this is actually recommended in the changelog for VA as of right before Christmas, a lot of things changed then).

Set default output to Rift in Windows. Close DCS and VA and try again. If it's still funny, alt-tab to VAICOM and try to redirect, which should be redundant, because your Rift is already primary.

What happens if you have Windows default device to your speakers, and make VAICOM output to your Rift in Windows sound settings?

OR

Have Windows default device to your speakers. Start DCS, alt-tab out to VAICOM, and then turn on redirect?

You won't believe it. Starting up VA and Chatter without DCS, all good in my Rift. Starting up DCS, Chatter alone goes again to my speaker.

Now I Alt-Tab out of DCS into VAICOM, and start switching Audio tab Redirect OPER on and off. Choosing Rift, OPER on, nothing. Choosing ASUS Speakers, OPER on - and Chatter appeared in my Rift.

All the while, all audio device is set to Rift in VA Options/Audio bottom part, with no checkmarks set. And stepping out of VA and DCS, speakers are still Default device, I don't have to switch it back manually...

Damned if it makes any sense... :cry:

LOL! I'm confused now, did it work when you clicked the OPER twice?

And I might have an epiphany. It seems I have not paid full attention. Hehe

Are you saying you are using Voice Attack to control your audio outputs? I might be wrong but I don't think that's a great idea. I believe they're just there to force everything into your headset, and back when you quit. VAICOM is NOT Voice Attack, and I believe it's relying on Windows settings. And strange things are definitely happening in your end. That's for sure. Hehe

Try this again.

Set everything to default audio in Voice Attack. No Asus, no Rift. Default! Means Window is boss! (I think it will reset if you change to integrated instead of Windows Media Component or whatever the name.

Turn off redirect in VAICOM.

In Windows set your Rift to default output.

It should all be in Rift.

When DCS starts, if you have same problem. What is the outputs in DCS? Set them all to default, and restart DCS.

Seems there can be some double or trippled conflicts and confusion in your system. Didn't think it would be possible though. Hehe

DCS changed to have possible different outputs, not too long ago.

No, I clicked it once, after selecting Speaker as target device from Redirect drop down menu.

No, I said I have those Options in the Audio tab of Voice Attack. And there is no "Default" option in those bottom 4 drop down menus, you need to pick either one by name.

I could, but if I change Windows default output device to Rift manually, then I have to set it back all the time I exit DCS and VA, won't I?

Okay, checked with the VA guys. VA will use whatever was used last as long as you have nothing checked or click on change now. Else it will follow Windows.

According to your picture you have selected Asus as default in Windows, is that correct?

Yeah, I forgot, since VA is reading Windows settings, there is no default. Might have something to do with it.

I want you to try to force everything to the Rift, just to make sure you can have chatter while in DCS. And go from there.

What's your DCS settings.

Yes, but that was the previous setting, when the problem still existed.

Now I have the attached VA setting. Now, if I set VAICOM Audio Redirect to Speaker, and OPER switch is on, Chatter only then goes to Rift.

Congratulations on getting post #5000. Can we please have a subforum? This thread is ridiculously long and unwieldy.

This is because the options at the bottom set the default Windows device. I think that if you want to do it only while VA is running you need to use the Override Default Playback Device and Override Default Text-to-Speech Device options at the top of the screen and pick your device for each of these.

This is where I have mine set so that it continues to use my gaming headphones and mic rather than switching to my Rift S speakers and mic

I do not have any of the options at the bottom of the screen ticked

Hope this helps and apologies if you have already tried this

Yes, the new update seems to change the SRS/VIACOM integration. Now, if you have "Dynamic switching" set on in your VIACOM configuration, when you want to send voice via SRS, to have VIACOM pass your audio through to SRS you must either say "switch" or send an AI VAICOM command and keep the PTT held down after. It's in the new manual.

You can turn off this function by selecting "Broadcast parallel" in the VAICOM configuration, then it will work like before.

Personally, I hate it. I would prefer when pressing PTT that SRS be the default, and then doing something different to use a VAICOM command (like double-clicking the PTT?), but this way is super clunky for SRS comms. I'm much more likely to have frantic SRS comms than frantic VAICOM commands.

I’m seeing the same sort of issue, but when I issue the ‘switch’ command VA says that ‘switch’ is not a recognized command. It’s also not listed in the commands when I look at edit profile. Any ideas? The dynamic switching seems to work fine, but if I’m not interested in talking to AI with my transmission I have no way of switching and then don’t get any transmission out. When/how do I issue the ‘switch’ command in the process of sending the transmission?

Your voiceattack apps folder looks to have an old version of VAICOM in it (I am away from my computer at the moment so cannot check mine). Are you definitely running the latest version of Vaicom and which version of DCS are you running?

@Razor18

I won't give up on this. But I won't be able to test until tomorrow. I've got 3 audio outputs, so I'm sure I'll be able to reproduce.

In the meantime, change to integrated instead of media component, which is recommended, VA guys confirmed it for v me.

Since the output changes when you enter DCS, there has to a connection there.

@hornblower793

I agree, the date on the dll is old, but the log says otherwise.

@mikemadmax20

@kornykidd0

Have you changed the TX press and release settings per instructions as after update?

It was more aimed at the fact that the log is also moaning about multiple versions of the plugin being found and I am therefore wondering if it is confusing the situation - will be able to have a better dig in my machine in about an hour

I am now at my computer and it does look like you have more than one copy of VAICOM installed. The screenshot of your apps folder has a very old VAICOM dll in it, and is also missing the subfolders for things like the chatter dll.

I have attached a screenshot of my VAICOM folder for comparison. I am guessing that you therefore have your newer version of VAICOM in a second location and VoiceAttack knows you have the new version, but is looking at the old dll when it tries to run and is getting confused

Hi guys, i worked through many places in the net to get a fix or help for my below mentioned issue:

VoiceAttack works great. I am German and i use the US engine from Microsoft. The only thing which does not work is the recognition of City names or persons :( training in VA and in MS did not do the trick. Havn't used an alternate recognition engine yet. Any suggestions?

Thx much

When I first got Vaicom, I went through all of the city names and added them, along with my, probably wrong, pronunciations of them, to the Windows Speech recognition dictionary. One example being Kutaisi, which i pronounce as "Cut-a-zee" rather than the "Cut-I-zee" which i suspect it should really be.

+1 for Greyman's suggestion - I have had to do it for some of the locations as well, particularly on Normandy where I suspect I am trying to pronounce them too correctly.

I got a better understanding of the commands and the way things work. I stumbled on "Switch transmission"just saying anything I could think of and that did the trick and will swap from transmitting to AI or transmitting to SRS when the SRS PTT is held down. It also showed me that the AI interaction is only forced first if there is AI on the channel. If there is no AI present SRS will transmit normally. I did notice though that the "Hold AI Transmission" is not working for me in 2.5.18.1, it worked in 2.5.17 though.

Thanks Hornblower and Max for chiming in on this issue. I'm running DCS Stable V 2.5.5.41371 and last week's OB V 2.6 update. Additionally, I've been getting bombarded with recent Voice Attack and Vaicom updates and have loaded each of them as presented. I've attached layouts below, which I snipped a few minutes ago, for your review. I've mapped VA's TX switches as instructed - removing the Start/Sop Listening lines in each TX Edit Command box. Note also, that I'm unable to bring-up my Vaicom Configuration Window. Again everything was working until this last Vaicom update a couple of days ago. I also have multiple Vaicom Profiles which I'm going to delete. I also deleted the VCP export lua in my Saved Games DCS Script export.lua, hoping it would correct this issue. No joy. Again thanks for your help. You guys are the best. I'm at my system now waiting for a reply if you guys are still available and have the time. Chat soon.

Hi,

Has anyone seen an issue where certain missions force VIACOMM into EASY COMMUNICATIONS:OFF even when the setting is turned on in the game?

I am seeing this on the Hornet AIM120B and C training mission. Maybe a mission maker can force comm's one way or another?

Just curious if others seeing this or if its unique to me.

Thanks

Attaching My Saved Games Scripts Export Lua for additional review.
Hei Mike. If you cannot bring up the VCP control panel, check first that keyboard is not disabled in Voice Attack, and or add voice command/joystick button.

Reading through your screen shots now.
