Hi I don't see how this hasn't been brought up already but i couldn't seem to find it so I'll ask anyway( sorry if it has and I've missed it)..After seeing our pilot walking on the ground after we have ejected can another player on a multiplayer server go in to pick them up in a Chopper? If not how difficult would this be to implement?I regularly watch DCS you tube videos of various online Squadrons where a pilot gets shot down and they are out of the fight. How cool would it be to have a dedicated search and rescue squadron flying along side to rescue them and take them back to a friendly airbase to jump into another Aircraft to continue the fight.

Who would like to see this?

CSAR and SAR are both valid operations taken by real world military forces and is one of the things I'm heavily interested in.

I don't see how CSAR/SAR cannot be in some way a part of DCS, maybe not immediately but in the future. If this can be extended to rescuing multiplayer pilots that would be amazing.

The scripts are neat, we can pick up dudes, yep!

I'm a CSAR / transport guy in a squadron, and pretty much my role in the unit is open because of the CTLD scripts. It's pretty cool, when I pilot goes down a man is placed on the ground right where the ejection occurred and he starts transmitting a beacon signal to ADF on. Once you're a mile and half away he pops a blue smoke. You can land near him or hover over him for 10 seconds, after which he "gets in the choppah!" (disappears, it's simulated of course).

As cool as this is I have to agree with the originator of this thread. Being that we have helicopters why not make a real CSAR function? Admittedly, it's a little hokey to land and pick up an infantry soldier who was plopped down in full tac gear on a hillside, helmet, M16, all of it, instead of a guy in flight gear. It's gets even funnier when the actual bailed out pilot has landed a few hundred meters away is is just standing there like a grouse while you pick up GI Joe

I don't know how a real CSAR function would be to implement, but I figure if some guy or gal can write a script for it as an add on and it works then so can ED? It's nice that us rotorheads get some love in airframes and single player campaign DLC's, but with three more helicopters potentially coming, two of them real world CSAR assets, it'd be the great to have something like this come in time for these.

Robert, which squadron is yours?

I thought I saw a youtube video of somebody walking their own downed character into the back of a chopper...

Edit:

Edit2: Scripts are good, but this is something that should be integrated.

I cannot believe I found this thread right as I wanted to make it, and I searched just in the nick of time to make sure ...

I wanted to give reputation to OP but forum system does not let me.

I had a big post writing but it got too big and I can't finish it up, I'll have to save it and finish it later when I'm less busy.

I think that the POLL should be about whether to do it via simple airfield based one (which I was writing about) vs the dynamic per-aircraft AI one.
