Since we are getting the F-14, F-4 and the SOH map with Iran included, I'm sure their's going to be a bunch of new AI planes available which are home to those skies.

Any chance we might see the KC-707 and the KC-747 make it in? Imagine getting your F-14 or F-4E refueled by either one of these planes ;) :D

Isn't the KC-135 - which already is in DCS - basically a military tanker variant of the Boeing 707?

They're a similar airframe, but not the same. The KC-135 stems from the C-135 which is originally a cargo aircraft. Hence it has no windows and a slightly wider fuselage. While the 707 is a passenger aircraft. You can look em both up

No, different airframes. The C/KC-135 was from the Boeing Model 367-80 (often referred by just Dash 80), as was the 707. However, from there they grow apart. The fuselage lengths (153ft for the 707 and 136 for the -135) and widths are different (707 is 12.5ft wide 14.7ft tall, -135 is only 12ft wide, 14ft tall). Wings, tails and rudders also, are different lengths with different leading and trailing flap systems.

So it's not just the simple idea of making the existing KC-135 into a KC-707. You'd be better off making a new skin and using it as a RED tanker.

I'm pretty sure anyone can make the KC-707, and simply add the flight dynamics of the KC-135. However they would have to add the new stuff to incorporate both the boom and the Probe/drogue system

...which would be a mod and not part of the official DCS hangar. I would also have serious doubts that we will see a 707 model with KC-135 FM by the developers. Ten years earlier but with todays claim for maximum reality :music_whistling:

I would expect to see more asset packs in the future when more maps become reality (see carriers e.g.)

i9 9900K @ 5,0GHz | 1080GTX | 32GB RAM | 256GB, 512GB & 1TB Samsung SSDs | TIR5 w/ Track Clip | Virpil T-50 Stick with extension + Warthog Throttle | MFG Crosswind pedals | Gametrix 908 Jetseat

Ah, thanks. To be honest, I never bothered myself to question the 'family line' of the C-135, but it makes sense that the two look so very similar then.

It could be introduced as an official hanger that way and then later down the line make improvements to it's FM

Would be something like introducing a FC3 MiG-29 again. I'm pretty sure ED is really happy when all of this SFM's are gone (me too).

Well it could be either way, the point is having such a plane for Iran and adding to the authenticity of the sim

Also the KC-707 has other operators whose factions are there in the game, like Australia, Israel etc.

I'm pretty sure this will happen sooner or later but you could not blame them if they wan't to earns some bucks with it. I have even heard enough people wishing for a flyable tanker so maybe in some years...

I can completely understand a flyable tanker being a paid for addon. Also if they make this and include it in an paid for asset, I hope its an asset that is preincluded with the purchase of the SOH map instead of having to be bough separately like the WW2 asset pack

Not exactly. The 707 and are not the same. Different engines as the most obvious, so the FM isnt even close.

I've got 4000+ hours flying the KC-135.

Its just not as simple as you'd like it to be.

I think the KC-747 would be most ideal for this map though, plus the only jumbo jet tanker in the world. In DCS!
