Which Apps, because I can almost garauntee none of them have the GPU Load/Draw Call Volume that DCS Has.

ED tends not to support APIs that Require Users to Upgrade.

 

That being said, I have spoken to 4 users in my group that run WMR HMDs.

1x Dell Visor on a Overclocked RX580

2x Samsung Odyssey's on 1080's

1x Lenovo Explorer on a Vega 56

 

None of them are having lockups on the menu or any type of persistent crashing.

 

 

At this point it looks more like a HARDWARE ISSUE than a DCS ISSUE.

 

DCS Should not be locking up on the mainscreen as you say it is, that typically happens when there's a Hardware Issue (GPU Overheating, GPU Memory Controller Crash etc can all be caused by trying to run VR on a entry level GPU).

 

 

Wow interesting, thanks!!! But as I wrote, sb. wrote in discord he's running it fine on his 1060 (I'm shocked to hear that after 2 months of waitingggg)... But I'm sick of my 1060 problem, so I just ordered the freaggin crazy 320 € RX 580 8GB with 2 HDMI ports. :P

oh like that russian one "Angest" (?) In space, with particles etc. But PERFORMANCE wise my 1060 did epic, in main menu 60 fps constantly in WMR mode (until the fail-freeze-crash).

And back in 1.5.8 (when my DCS would only freeze/crash after 10-15 minutes of playtime in WMR) I had at least 25 fps constantly, mostly 35-40, and I didn't get any single bit annoyed/dizzy by those fps. Was still perfectly fluent imo (30 fps is even enough when flying at 10k ft altitude) (ofc. most settings on low, some medium)

It seems I haven't been clear enough: DCS CRASHES IN MAIN MENU (no performance demands at all) after only 30-60 seconds without me moving my mouse, only moving my WMR headset.

 

And how many others are reporting this? As well where are your log files and such, reporting a bug isnt helped by setting a petition. I use Windows Mixed Media with no issues.

Could be but I'm not sure. My friend also got an odyssey and sold his rift. He experienced the same thing a few times.

 

Although tracking usually is fine for me. I still have my rift but I can't go back to it now that I've seen much better cockpit visuals.

 

I've tried searching for it but haven't come up with anything. I figured it was the wmr for steam app software sine once I would run the set up for sitting mode, it would be fine. Last time I used it, it didn't do this. It's random.

 

I havent seen this with my Odyssey, but I will watch the next time I am in and see if I can recreate.

Thanks. It's not apparent in the main menu or when you first launch dcs. It's only apparent when I'm in the cockpit. Mainly I fly the a10 so I'm not sure if it's aircraft specific either but it should not be.

 

My room is pretty good with light. If it was a tracking issue I would expect to see more posts on the internet about this.

 

Or maybe it's the way I start dcs now? I usually start steam VR for wmr app then start dcs hut I probably just need to start dcs instead. Who knows..I've been troubleshooting it for a while now.

I'm on 2.5.1 now but when I bought the odyssey I was on 2.5. It happened many times since then. Once I run the setup again and select sitting mode that usually fixes it. My friend is also on 2.5.1 but he noticed it too when he also got the same hmd.

I just did a quick run in an A-10 Instant action mission, leaned in a bunch, didnt see any loss of tracking, or movement in the wrong direction, but I will keep an eye out for it.

But see, you create all these different threads with different information here and there, its very hard to track.

Thanks for checking! If I find a way to record it one day I'll post it here. But of course I am hoping it does not happen anymore as taking off the headset and running the setup again, rebooting everything is kind of a pain.

I get that, its a major pain. As I said, I will watch for it, I am only about a week and a half in on this headset, so maybe I have just been lucky.

I use a Samsung Odyssey with pixel density 1.5 and mostly high settings except shadows low, AF x16, and global shadows default. Heatblur and lens flare off, msa X2. On dcs 2.5.1. It runs smooth for the most part. It could be optimized better for sure. I think it was a bit smoother in 2.5 though.

 

I seem to have an issue only sometimes where I'll lean in and instead of getting closer to an instrument, the cockpit moves away from me..it looks like it is sliding away. I always have to go back to the wmr app and run setup and select the sitting position setup mode.

 

Has anyone experienced this?

 

Typically one has to be in Sitting mode for a Sim that has them as Sitting,

Yea I've always had it set up as Sitting. Just randomly I'd start dcs and hop in the cockpit to see the cockpit slide away from me as I was leaning towards something.

 

Is there a setting to enable the 3dof or 6dof tracking somewhere?

Actually no, I always posted my VR crashes in the VR section of "2.5 open beta issues/problems".

Do you need the DxDiag with my main monitor disconnected thus my VR headset connected? or does that not make a difference at the moment of DxDiag log creation? (As I have 2 screens connected when my VR headset is NOT connected)
