HiJack Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) Minor bug maybe related to nonstandard program folder. Here are the 3 last lines in the "autoupdate_log.txt" INFO : Kill timer reset. ERROR: Can't run C:\DCSW2\unins000.exe: (2) The system cannot find the file specified. === Log closed. Windows 7. Cant find "unins000.exe" anywhere on my systemdisk. EDIT: This also seams to affect the updater.exe because it now don't see that 2.5 is finished installed and starts downloading everything from ED repository! Everything works just by using dcs.exe. DeJohn Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 The OpenBeta isn't supposed to uninstall 2.2. That will happen when the 2.5 Release comes out
Rudel_chw Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 Not so, it can uninstall it: For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB
lasvideo Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) Yes, I got the message option to uninstall Open Alpha as well. It be gone. Edited January 30, 2018 by lasvideo Win 10 I7 6700K @ 4.0 GHZ. 16 gig memory GTX 1070 SSD
DeJohn Posted January 30, 2018 Posted January 30, 2018 (edited) After the file download the only message I got was that the update was successful. However, according to the post, this update was only supposed to change 1.5.8 OpenBeta to 2.5 OpenBeta. And when the release version comes out it will use 1.5.8 and 2.2 OpenAlpha to create 2.5 realaese, and give you the option to keep 1.5.8 as Final, and uninstall 2.2Openalpha Edited January 30, 2018 by DeJohn
HiJack Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 Running repair also works fine but the updater still starts to download from ED repository after the repair.
HiJack Posted January 30, 2018 Author Posted January 30, 2018 In fact running repair downgraded to 1.5 OpenBeta :( So the installer fails if it cant find the 2.2 uninstall file. Better to select "No" to remove 2.2! Currently running update to 2.5 again :(

Have you manually moved DCS before updating ? Or asking another way, does your registry match the current actual folders ? I doubt it looked on your "whole system disk", it looked at the one place specified in your registry only, didn't find it and aborted. That is how I understand the log. Yes all paths were correct, just the uninstall file of 2.2 that was missing. Anyway the updater failed to register the correct version resulting in a restart of the download. I canceled the download and started the dcs.exe and everything turned out to be version 2.5. Stupid enough I tried to repair but that identified the installation as 1.5.8 and downgraded it. So now I'm downloading again.......... 52% No problem, most lightly this is not a common problem for other users. This thread can be closed as it most lightly was a local "one time" problem.
