Buk launchers have their own trageting/tracking radar, so of course they can shoot at you. Initial accquisition is done optical, so range is decreased obviously. The launcher as self-contained unit was one of the main ideas behind the system. It's also modeled in 1.5 by the way...

With all due respect, that which you describe is not modeled in 1.5.8.

In 1.5.8. I just have to destroy the radar (there is a radar system + 3 launchers) and I can buzz over the launchers at will.

I know what I'm talking about since I did testing with Su-25T in the mission where you have to destroy a Buk system, in both 1.5.8 and 2.5, respectfully.

In my i5 2500 @ 3,3 GHz and GTX 960 4GB GDDR5 I am getting stable 60 fps, Vsync on.

So far so good !

Are you using deferred shading and MSAA or nothing of those, I can get those frames without both of those but image quality sucks, and I get a ton of flickering on textures and jaggines that hurt my eyes.

Try the settings attached. Then go to in-game settings, set MSAA:2x, AF:16x

See if it is working for you, it works for me.

Tried this but too big of a hit in fps, I drop below 30 and stutters like hell, and gets a lot worse in action.

Nvidia inspector forcing FXAA gets something done, but just on my plane and object in focus, rest of the surroundings doesn't get any AA .

Rest of the settings didn't much either if I Turn off MSAA ingame

Would like to turn off deferred shading, but then WHOT/BHOT on my A10C doesn't work so good, so much easier to spot targets with deferred shading on and trees look so much better and much more. But I have a feeling that GTX970 handles that technology poorly, can someone confirm or explain if that is true and why?

Wish I could get AA with it and acceptable FPS, but I guess I will have to wait for GTX20.. Or whatever comes out this year.

Doesn't this completely ignore nvidia settings and just turns on in-game AA and AF, killing the performance?

Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I can't get any nvidia AA settings to work in DCS.

You have to turn on AA in game, but only the lowest 2x. Then the MFAA will work like a charm, it won't do the same as 8x MSAA, but looks OK for me with much less performance hit then 8xMSAA in-game with deferred shading on. If I set 2xAA only without the NV ctrl panel MFAA, it looks much worse.

Attaching the in-game settings as well. The avg. FPS I get is around 45-60, with peaks to 110 and worst ~35. No stutters here. GPU is Gigabyte GTX970 gaming G1

Try lowering your resolution to the max it's shipped with, as in 1920 x 1080, as you're forcing it to produce a higher resolution it wasn't designed for.

Gtx 1060 with 6Gb here at 1080 res. All high setting with ultra visibility but civ to low and MSAA 2X. Trees, grass, preload all slider to the max right :D and the FPS between 60 to 80. Hope it would hold untill GPU price drop to be affordable

I have a 4th gen i7 , 4770 with 16 GB RAM and Gigabyte GTX 960, 2GB. I had decent frame rates with DCS 1.5.8 and 2.2 with a mix of medium and high settings but with 2.5 I was hardly managing 16 tp 25 fps at low settings. Just yesterday I bought a used Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 gaming card and applied the setting suggested on page 3 of this thread. Now I am getting 40 to 60 fps from inside the cockpit but it drops to around 30fps with outside views. Is that fine or I need to further fine tune something?

I see this reapeated so often, that its become some kind of gospel on here. This is NOT TRUE. DCS will recognize control panel tweaks (I use it to turn on adaptive vsync) you just have to have the game in TRUE FULLSCREEN mode. So you need to hit ALT + ENTER when you enter the cockpit of your game.

For some reason the fullscreen mode which is selectable in the option screen is actually borderless windowed mode.

The ALT + ENTER "issue" is often mentioned in the German part of the forums. I have also Full Screen checked in DCS option menu and when entering the cockpit it IS in Full Screen for me, because when I hit ALT + ENTER it will switch to windowed mode.

There are people who have this "issue" and some do not have it. So it can`t be DCS. I do not use NV control panel but you use it and you have this "issue" right?
