The way to solve the TrackIR problem.

Any one had problem with TrackIR.

e.g. TrackIR stop working for no reason.

If you TrackIR's blue light and green light and red lights are on. then it is not the problem of the Tracker. Blue lights mean the Tracker is sending and resaving data from the game you are play. Some times for some reason like you just remaped your control or active the new CD code. Tracker may begin to resaving some data its not meant to resaving by it.

That is what cost the problem.

All you need to do is to close both lock on and tracker. Then find the input folder in the lock on. delete any file named trackIR.

reopen TrackIR and Lockon. It should work.:smartass:

The following is from the TackIR manual:

4.4 Status LED indicators

The TrackIR camera has status LEDs which give the user visual cues about the status of the TrackIR software. There are two Status LEDs, one is located on the front directly above the infrared shield, and the other is on the underside of the TrackIR camera which will cause the case to "glow" blue when it is illuminated. Use the following key to interpret what the state and color of the status LEDs mean.

 

Front Status LED

 

 

* Off : NO reflective surface is being tracked, and TrackIR Enhanced output is NOT paused.

* Green : A reflective surface IS being tracked, and TrackIR Enhanced output is NOT paused.

* Orange : A reflective surface IS being tracked, and TrackIR Enhanced output IS paused.

* Red : NO reflective surface is being tracked, and TrackIR Enhanced output IS paused.

* Flashing Blue or Green : Low power or stand by mode.

 

 

Blue Case LED

 

 

* Off : There is NO TrackIR Enhanced Title (game or simulation) running.

* Glowing Blue : A TrackIR Enhanced Title IS running and has registered with the TrackIR software to receive tracking data.

Note : If the Case LED has been disabled in the Tracking -> Settings window, it will not turn on.

then there is actually something wrong, this is well known. Its in plenty of faq, if you enter the setup menu, your trackir will get screwed up same thing if you are running a widescreen, the ratio will get screwed up. This is from the faq over at simhq

Lock On 1.12a has a bug where the TrackIR sometimes stops responding. To correct this, delete the TrackIR.ini file in the \Lock On\Input folder and the TrackIR file (no extension) in the \Lock On\Input folder. These files will be recreated when you next start Lock On and the TrackIR should work again.

It seems to be more difficult but first I have to say: I run it under Vista.

 

When I start LockOn as Administrator, then my TrackIR works - but HOTAS is dead (no buttons, no throttle).

When I start it as normal user, then TrackIR is dead and HOTAS works fine.

 

(Until yesterday everything worked fine...)

Thanks for that little piece of info there mate, I've been trying to get my cam2pan/newview to work in 1.12a for a fortnight now. Worked in 1.1 no probs but not 1.12a and after reading that I tried it out and it worked a treat :)

 

Now I can go online and actually look and see where the missiles are coming from as they smash me down, again and again and again :pilotfly:

i can't say anything for vista, i tried it once and didn't like it. Most gamers should not have vista installed, that's all i've got to say.

TrackIR can overheat during long play. One virtual pilot solved problem by

making heatsink on TrackIR chip. He is cut transparent plastic behind trackIR of course.

TrackIR works perfecty under Vista as it does under XP. Just make yourself a bat file that will first delete the trackir.ini file then start your game up. I made my own, it is basically just a LockOn.txt file that you then rename to be a LockOn.bat file ( please note you must be able to see the extensions for it to work, otherwise you are naming your file a LockOn.bat.txt file, but you dont see the "txt" at the end). The first line deletes the ini file, the second puts a 1 second delay after that (for a longer delay change the 1 to a higher number), before the 3rd line which starts your game. This bat file must reside in the LockOn root folder to work as I have written it, and just make yourself a shortcut to your desktop from it.

I tried the way you discribed it, but it doesn't work although i can use the

F9 and F12 buttons the green led is on , but no movement

(using Vista) before this i tried manually deleting the trackir config, also no cure, any ideas left?

Works perfectly if done correctly. I have shared this with approx 7 other people, not one of them has had a problem with it.

The trick to getting it to run, is to delete the trackir,ini file each time you start the game.

Try doing it manually, deleteing the trackir.ini file in the directory path I posted.Then go into lockon and it should work. If it does, then the bat file you made isn't made correctly or something you did is wrong, because the bat file does the same thing... deletes the trackir.ini file, waits one second and then starts lockon.
