Does the ME have a method to hide/unhide multiple objects at the same time? If not, this needs to go on a wish list. Very tedious to process dozens of objects singly!

If you're building a mission where you know you want a large number of units "hidden", I suggest putting them all in the same group. That way you can just hide or unhide one of the units in that group, and the whole group will follow suit.

It all works fine untill you want to have a large number of static objects (not to overload the computer for instance). Then it becomes a small nightmare to hide them all :D
