BlacleyCole Posted March 28, 2018 Posted March 28, 2018 (edited) I’m thinking of building a series of training assignments based on the US army’s initial rotary wing training this will prepare you for the initial flight phase in the Huey because you’ll have a better background knowledge some might even be sudo sim lessons where you free flight using the info to learn the tasks involved. I’m not sure since I have went thru everything yet and began organizing things I do know that there will be a lot of technical reading and learning a standard operating procedures. How many would like to have the opertunity to learn from these ground school lessons it may be I provide a lesson of ready then you take a quiz or I present the info and demonstrate thru a video to watch then have a mission to complete. And you send me the track to watch if I can not get the si to evaluate your actions. Who’s interested? Sorry guys ive been busy in rl so ive dropped the ball here but I’m going to review the ftg this weekend and see what the tasks to learn this week are and post them by Monday. BlacleyCole Posted April 7, 2018 Author Posted April 7, 2018 (edited) Great I joined carrier strike group one and I have their sop so I might devise a generic sop down the road but now let’s learn from the two pubs I’ve listed. Before I list any more let’s read these and discuss the info in those. Here is a list of pubs i was able to locate so far that you might need in your pubs library:Dcs ground school pubs Huey flight manual - dcs Flying helicopters manual -faa Tactical flight mission planning guide -USA Aeronautical information manual - faa AR 40-8 -USA AR 95-1 -USA Fm 90-4-USA Fm 1-230-USA Fm 3-04.126-USA Fm 3-04.140-USA Fm 3-04.203-USA Fm 3-04.240-USA Tc 3-04.11-USA Tc 3-04.43-USA Tc 3-04.93-USA Fm 55-1520-210-10 Uh-1h checklists TM 1-1520-228-cl Edited April 7, 2018 by BlacleyCole BlackeyCole 20years usaf XP-11. BlacleyCole Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 I’m going cover to cover for the helicopter flying manual, you might also look at Charley’s guide on the huey if your using a warthog hotas it instructs you how best to set it up plus covers the important things in the manual from dcs. BlacleyCole Posted April 8, 2018 Author Posted April 8, 2018 (edited) There’s a couple more pubs I need to verify or change from the FTG plus find the FTG online if possible if not then I need to get the ok from the guy who gave them to me. Basically day one is registration and issuing of pubs plus letting you know what pubs you’ll need access to plus a couple other things that you need for rl planning we may skip like a flight calculator non electronic type plus flight planning software I’m going to adapt and we are going to use the mission editor where possible this is a learning as we go I’m just a step or two ahead of you and plan on condensing a week into a single post or lesson every week where possible iirc ground school is 22 weeks Note the second chapter of the helicopter flying handbook by the faa is really dry just to warn you but it’s essential info if you going to fly the Huey Edited April 10, 2018 by BlacleyCole BlackeyCole 20years usaf XP-11.
