MurderOne Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 In 2.5.1 ob, the sound output has been moved to my rift earpieces. In 2.5.0 release, the sound still plays through my speakers, which I prefer. How can I move the sound out of the rift and back to my speakers where it belongs in 2.5.1? I do not see an in game option to change it. I do not care to "disable" the rift audio, as I use that for other things. Sorry, no cool signature here.

MurderOne Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 They are. 2.5.0 release maintains sound through the speakers, 2.5.1 ob puts it in the headset. Sorry, no cool signature here.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 25, 2018 ED Team Posted April 25, 2018 Ok I have just checked with ED as I do not have VR, this change is intentional. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? MurderOne Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 Interesting. They need to make it optional, I'm not wearing headphones and blocking out my entire world every time I want to fly in DCS, it's just not feasible. Further, it removes the physical vibrations and impacts I feel from my subwoofer. Sorry, no cool signature here.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted April 25, 2018 ED Team Posted April 25, 2018 (edited) I have pointed ED in this direction, thanks for the feedback Edit: A request has been made for optional use Edited April 25, 2018 by BIGNEWY Forum rules - DCS Crashing? MurderOne Posted April 25, 2018 Author Posted April 25, 2018 Thanks Bignewy. I hope they do something about it for sure; I won't even open 2.5.1 again until I don't have to wear headphones. Sorry, no cool signature here.
Buckeye Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Ok I have just checked with ED as I do not have VR, this change is intentional. Did they provide any insight on why they intentionally did this? I ask because I can't think of a single logical reason for it...so curious what the dev team's thought process was/what I am missing. Pikey Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Wow, lost 45 mins of my life to this!!! you can start in 2D, will take your default device. Start in VR and no sound device created and log hang after 4 lines. I take off the Rift headphones and just use one headset as many do as the quality in mic and headphones aren't as good as a standalone headset. I can't see any way to change this to get it working on my headset with Rift, this is a change not for the better, I see ED are trying but locking you to a specific sound source is something I have never seen in any game or app to date and just not required. Please revert. Hope I can find my Rift headset in the meantime. I'll have to wear my headset and mic over it still as all my apps are using default and im not messing around with each sound source per app. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
Pikey Posted April 25, 2018 Posted April 25, 2018 Got a fix/workaround from my good friend JanTelefon. Disable the Rift Headphone in your windows audio devices. Then DCS will revert to default. ___________________________________________________________________________ SIMPLE SCENERY SAVING * SIMPLE GROUP SAVING * SIMPLE STATIC SAVING *
funkyfranky Posted April 26, 2018 Posted April 26, 2018 Already posted in the other thread. But I´'d also like to state here that this new "feature" is very annoying. JanTelefon Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Yes. "Features" are the worst, even though this was somewhat easy to mitigate.
funkyfranky Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 Frankly, this is not a even a "feature" in quotation marks for me. This is a pain in the :censored: No explanation why, no info that this was changed... First thing you think is that something on your hardware side is not okay. You spend quite some time to figure out what it is until you realize that it was changed in the game suddenly. Bottom line, things like this should be mentioned in the change log. That's what it's there for - old story, I know. Probably many hours of customer time in total wasted because ED could not be bothered to take one minute to write this into the log. Actually, I still don't know what is going on exactly. How is the audio output handled now in comparison to the previous DCS version where my default audio playback device was used? Tinkickef Posted April 28, 2018 Posted April 28, 2018 (edited) Got a fix/workaround from my good friend JanTelefon. Disable the Rift Headphone in your windows audio devices. Then DCS will revert to default. Unfortunately this will not help those of us using Rift Headphone for audio and mirror through Voicemeeter for Buttkicker. I suppose I could go back to my old Sennheisers, but that is a very backward and inconvenient step when you alread have high quality headphones built in to the headset. To deliberately remove an entire aspect of the user experience seems just plain daft. I got £200 of kit, bought specifically for DCS laying idle... I really cannot imagine what they were thinking. I was enjoying the new cloud shading effects until I throttled up and started to roll and found no rumbles over the joints in the concrete. After enjoying the Buttkicker for 12 months or so, DCS seems dead without it. S7R4nG3 Posted April 29, 2018 Posted April 29, 2018 Unfortunately this will not help those of us using Rift Headphone for audio and mirror through Voicemeeter for Buttkicker.. Since you mentioned voicemeeter, I did run into my own issues while using voicemeeter to control my audio devices. After this change, I was unable get any audio out of my Rift headphones from DCS. Normal audio from youtube or any other source functioned perfectly but DCS was just dead silent. The fix I was able to find for it was to revert the drivers in voicemeeter to the MME drivers instead of the WDM drivers, which allowed DCS to divert to the rift headphones audio device, instead of my voicemeeter device and give me audio back. So if anyone else is having similar issues with voicemeeter, try swapping from WDM to MME drivers...
TNZArchAngel Posted May 6, 2018 Posted May 6, 2018 I have a DK2 ive tried every thing, im missing something? it only happens for dcs all other vr game work fine . It is very annoying especially when you have invested a lot of cash in buying most of these planes
funkyfranky Posted May 9, 2018 Posted May 9, 2018 I have to sincerely apologize for my rather harsh words above! That was the heat of the moment, I guess. I fiddled around with some audio settings in the Oculus app and was able to get back to my normal "workflow" quite easily. In fact, I begin to like the new feature (without quotation marks intentionally :)). But making it optional seems to be a good idea for people who have more problems with their additional hardware. Mars Exulte Posted May 25, 2018 Posted May 25, 2018 If you configure the "What U Hear" or "Sound Mixer" (something like that) it should play over both ;) Just go in the settings for it in your Windows audio options and set one set as your default, and for "What U Hear" or whatever your PC has, set the other source. I play over both a surround sound AV receiver and Siberia 800 wireless headset with integrated hardware, normally mutually exclusive, in this fashion.
