For some reason, I just can't get the AWLS to work in the Harrier and I'm not sure if I'm doing it wrong or if it just doesn't work with all airfields.

I click the AWL button on the UFC, type in the number for the airfield and click "on" but the iconography doesn't appear on the hud.

Is there anything else I should be doing?

The HUD AWLS symbology appears when the AWLS button on the EHSD page is depressed (has a box around it) i.e. AFAIK it won't appear in TCN or WYPT modes.

It seems the problem occurs when I do a cold start, so I may be doing something wrong during the startup process, but can't quite figure out what that could be.

Have followed all startup instructions I could find.

Please post a track or mission file, it always helps.

• Which airfield is it and what is the wind direction/strength ?

• Does the ILS work for other modules i.e. A-10C, M2K, etc. ?

Dunno how to post track or mission files I'm afraid.

I've tested it in the harrier on all airfields that have ILS and it works fine if I start on the runway or in the air, but when I start cold and start up the plane myself, it doesn't work all of a sudden.

Dunno if it's something that needs to "heat up" or some such.

Think I've narrowed it down some more.

Apparently it only causes problems on the "Cold and dark" instant mission.

I can set up the AWLS fine and all but when I turn it on, I don't get the horizontal and vertical "landing lines" (forgot the correct term).

So not that bad really, just a bit odd.

Has RAZBAM fixed the localizer portion of the AWLS yet? Last I saw, it was working backwards.

Curious about this as well.

You are not doing anything wrong, there is a DCS 2.5.x bug that effects many/most runway ILS and Marker Beacons - depending on wind speed/direction they switch/turn off differently to ATC's active runway.

This is what happens in the AV-8B quick start mission "Cold and Dark Caucasus" set at Kutaisi, the 4 knot (2 m/s) headwind causes RWY 08 ILS to turn off - if the headwind was 0 or +7 knot, RWY 08 ILS would turn on again.

As RWY 08 ILS is off, you don't get the HUD ILS guidance bars even when tuned into the correct AWLS channel 03.
