bolek Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Each mission's briefing specifies altitude for each waypoint, which is understandable but also always reminds you to enter the altitudes into the flight computer. Given that there is no vertical guidance, what is the purpose of this step? Does INS (or anything in the aircraft?) behave differently based on this or is it just for the pilot's reference during flight? Thanks
Frederf Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Campaign design isn't textbook operation in a number of areas. The system is designed that waypoint is surface including how INS is updated (not modeled). I find that I do get a floating crosshair symbol though at least when within the usual range.
baltic_dragon Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Hey Bolek, To be honest, when I was designing the campaign I was not entirely sure how it works and I assumed it was capable of 3D display of the waypoints (which INS is in a way, only to certain altitude). That is why I went the middle way - left the waypoints at ground as they should be but also told players to add the altitudes for their reference (and to have more things to do during those colds starts). myHelljumper Posted May 21, 2018 Posted May 21, 2018 Waypoint altitude is limited to 25 000 ft IIRC. Helljumper - M2000C Guru Helljumper's Youtube https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCK3rTjezLUxPbWHvJJ3W2fA
Greyman Posted May 22, 2018 Posted May 22, 2018 Waypoint altitude is limited to 25 000 ft IIRC. That would explain why I couldn't set the 26,000ft waypoint in one of the missions, so I just set it to 22,000ft, like the previous one.
jojo Posted May 23, 2018 Posted May 23, 2018 On the left side of the front panel you dials were you can set altitude for AP "ALT AFF" function = "altitude capture" - Set you desired altitude - engage AP + ALT AFF - set climb/ descent angle => the AP will level off at desired altitude.
