I have been tinkering with OpenBeta 2.5.1 graphics for a while now, trying to figure out why OpenBeta peaks at 30 FPS for me when comparing it to Release 2.5.0 using the same Instant action scenario for testing? For me anyway. I have all of the similar graphics options set identical.

What is your deferred shading setting in 2.5.0?

Was wondering whether DS might have been off. Sorry, that was probably too obvious.

is there a profile for DCS in the nVidia Overlay Application?

I do not have nVidia Overlay installed at this time. I did install it for experimental purposes while trouble shooting this matter, but I restored back to an image that does not have it.

Ok, well instead of enjoying the Hornet, I have spent yet another few days trying to resolve this. Release still runs about 3x the frame rate compared to OpenBeta for me? When I install Nvidia Bloatware “GeForce Experience” all is good? Why do I need to install GeForce Experience to get OpenBeta to run good frame rates?? That is the question! To summarize a bit, here are some of the things I have tried to get OpenBeta to run as good as Release WITHOUT having to install GeForce Experience.

-DCS OpenBeta Repair

-Remove auto.exe file from Saved Games

-Confirm Graphics.lua file “MAXFPS” is set to Default (180)

-No MODS running

-Remove contents of “fxo” file

-Remove contents of “metashader2” file

-Reset Graphics to “LOW” preset in DCS (Had no impact at all to get above 30 FPS)

-Tinkered with VSYNC & Full Screen options and toggle of “ALT + Enter” in DCS Graphics options

-Uninstall & Reinstall Nvidia drivers, including deleting ALL “Nvidia” folders in directories on “C” Drive

-Perform Custom Installs of Nvidia Drivers, electing for “Clean Installs”

Probably a few other misc things, but don’t recall. I have not tried to uninstall OpenBeta and reinstall because I don’t know if I have to go thru the trouble of deactivating and reactivating modules? And I figured maybe if there was an issue with OpenBeta, the repair would have resolved it? I’m stuck at this point. With the Hornet release, I can imagine I wont get much traffic in this post? Im open to suggestion, thanks all.

SUCCESS!!!!!!! Well, I uninstalled OpenBeta and re-installed. I only loaded the A-10C module (because that is the one I was primarily using for comparison) and all is well! Hitting 90 FPS easy with graphic settings as they were during all prior testing. So much for assuming the repair would have resolved this. Im left concluding it had to be OpenBeta all this time, and NOT Nvidia. Seems logical anyway. Thanks DflippinK for encouraging me o do the uninstall. SOOOoooo many hours burned on this,, I am SO HAPPY I finally got resolve!

Did I read somewhere about shadow play? Turned on runs much quicker for some reason. Sounds crazy!

@NAKE350, Im not aware of ShadowPlay in OpenBeta???

@DflippinK, thanks. I am going to experiment a tad furthur by doing a restore and seeing if removing just some files in the saved games folder may have been part of this? At least I know how to fix it at this point

Well, after more detailed experiments, I found the culprit, it was neither DCS itself or Nvidia, it was a customized export.lua! My export.lua was altered by SimpleRadio, Tacview & Ikarus. I have not figured out which one of the 3 or a combination of either is the cause, but I know when I replace that export.lua with a default version, all is well. Thanks to all of you that assisted me, I at least know what to work on and Im very happy to be able to fly with much better frame rates.

Looking for a solution to this problem I found this post. I have the same problem as you and I can not solve it. And reinstalled 3 times and everything is just as bad .... the normal version is perfectly in vr but the beta is unplayable. I do not know what to do

You reinstalled, but did you do any configuring after a fresh install before you tested again? I made sure I did NOT, just ran it right after install,, oh ,, when you uninstalled, did you happen to rename your OpenBeta folder in Saved games so the new install would create a fresh one?

That is an important question when troubleshooting anything DCS related. All versions of the game store their config data in Saved Games folder on system drive, and this location is NOT affected by installer and updater.

Thus, if there's anything wrong/damaged/corrupt hidden there, you can reinstall the game itself, or run a repair, or run a cleanup till the end of the world and it won't solve a damn thing, as these operations affect just completely different folder (the main game one).

Hi everyone.

Im on 2.5 beta currently and I have much much less sttutering that on older versions, or 1.5.6. The problem is that 1.5.6 may sttuter more, but I had much more FPS than in 2.5. By much more I mean 110+ in 1.5 and in 2.5 I experience the same problem as said above. It seems that FPS are limited to 30 on the ground (avg 21 fps...), when I get into air, its little bit better (30 - 40), but it still a lot worse than in 1.5. I have an AMD GPU and AMD cpu, so the problem with shadowplay wont work for me. Unnistalling DCS wont help either, since I have fresh Windows 10 install and DCS still runs as before - bad. Also changing details, vision radius etc. doesnt seem to change anything. When I changed almost everything from high/ultra to low, FPS literally went from 21 avg to 23 avg.

I would appreciate any help, because I cant enjoy this game anymore and I cant go back to 1.5 version, because servers that Im playing on, dont support this version anymore.

Just reinstall, I did not do any of that. I will try and I tell you that such

I already did it and nothing was solved. Create a new folder called beta and install the game in it again. I guess we'll have to wait for this in the normal version
