How do you add a coalition to an existing mission like one you would download from the DCS User files? I want to be able to add the USAAgressor countries on the enemy sides so I can fly an F15c. I want to play missions where I can just dominate the hell out of the AI with an F15c, so I want to be able to do WW2 missions and add in the F15 if I'm on the non usa side. I can't seem to find a way to do this in the editor, when I try to find the info on google, it looks like this has been a feature not in this game for years and there are requests going as far back as 2012 requesting this. The only work around I've seen mentioned involved editing a LUA file and it would only let you swap out countries or something and it was completely confusing with all kinds of warnings to back things up because chances are you're going to make a typo and mess everything up. It looked like you would edit what looks like an Autoexec.bat file but it's not that, it's a LUA file.

Is there a way to add other countries to missions that have already been created? If not, can I create a new mission and add the countries THEN go to the old mission and copy and paste EVERYTHING over to the new mission?

Either this is extremely difficult for ED to implement into the mission editor or they simply couldn't care less about peoples desire to do this so they're not even going to bother with it, they're too busy adding things like rain drops to canopys.

Yes, you can copy other units from a mission and then paste it into another mission. But that takes a lot of time if the mission has too many units.

By default, you can't, but you can use a Mod called Coalition Mod by Grimes and Uboats (Not sure if it's working in the latest patch).

Thank you for the link. Copy and pasting seems like it would take forever. I didn't realize you couldn't just drag a bounding box around units and ctrl+c; ctrl+v. I also can't have two missions opened at the same time, so how does this even work to copy and paste? Do I have to actually load one mission, find the item I want and copy it to clipboard with CTRL+C, THEN close this mission and open the target mission where I want to paste and THEN Ctrl+V after the mission loads and then rinse and repeat for every single item on the map?!!!!

If that's how this works, I hope they either delegate development of this editor out to another group that will make it user friendly, or that new RTS guy they're hiring is hopefully going to be forced to work on this first because if we have to open and close mission files just to use a copy and paste function, this thing is terribly designed.

Ahhh I forgot to use windows functions, completely forgot. I went to the link, how do you download from there? When I click on what I thought the file was, it opens a window and shows all this code. Am I supposed to copy and paste that somewhere? Or is this something I can just install? I don't see any instructions at all. I get the feeling GitHub is a place for brains to go and it is assumed that much info is already known. How would a barely functioning human being install this?

Several posts on this subj. One can install both the Beta and Release versions of DCS. Both can then be opened to facilitate copying ME elements from one to the other.

I was unable to get the Coalition mod to function under DCS 2.5.2 Beta.

What? DCS already takes 105 GB on a hard drive as it is, I would have to devote another 105 GB to a hard drive just to be able to copy and paste? This editor is sorely lacking very basic functions.

Just out of curiosity, how do you even attempt to install the mod? The link provided above goes to a github link and when you click on the file it just shows you code. Are you supposed to copy and paste that somewhere? There are no instructions whatsoever provided so I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it. Apparently it won't work anyway, but I'd like to know how to actually try to install it in case this gets updated.

"[MOD] Mission Coalition Modification by uboats & Grimes"

https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=168720

https://github.com/mrSkortch/DCS-miscScripts/tree/master/Coalition%20Update%20Mod

is working for me in 2.5.2ob

I replicated the files into the main game directory, files saved via raw button, then the googleChrome automatically added .txt plus extensions eliminated by file manager

We must save the mission to the editor update the colors of existing moved units.

I found this link: https://github.com/mrSkortch/DCS-miscScripts/issues/1 It says something was fixed and grimes approved. For whatever reason, this link has a downloadable zip file whereas the other one just shows the code. So I extracted this. I backed up all the files that the archive will replace and I copied them over. The mission editor loads. Without instructions I have no clue what I'm supposed to do, but at least it loads up and doesn't freeze. So where do I go to add or move coalitions? I don't see any new buttons anywhere.

In my experience, this Mod works best if you load the mission on the Editor, then edit the coalitions adding and removing countries, then DONT MAKE MORE CHANGES to the mission itself, instead save the mission and then reload it ... now you can go on editing as usual.

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

You HAVE to save the mission before editing again. Once saved the edits will remain.

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
