Aluminum Donkey Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 When flying the Hornet the sound of the engine cuts in and out sometime. Its the same sound it just jumps up and down in volume. Anybody have this? What is it and what to do about it? It might actually not be a bug. I heard about it a long time ago, but apparently the Hornet's shockwave cone at transonic speeds is not stable, it fluctuates producing a pulsing noise... It's not engine noise, and not just the Hornet either, but it's really noticeable in that aircraft. I just set my Sound options to "Hear like in helmet", and it's not a big deal--it doesn't "bark" loudly at you anymore. You just barely notice it around Mach 1, and it might very well be quite realistic. Without "hear like in helmet" mode turned on, it makes quite an annoying racket. So... you know what to do now :) AD Kit: B550 Aorus Elite AX V2, Ryzen 7 5800X w/ Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE, 2 x 16GB Kingston Fury DDR4 @3600MHz C16, Asus ROG Strix RTX 4070 Ti Super 16GB, EVGA SuperNova 750 G2 PSU, HP Omen 32" 2560x1440, Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS fitted with Leo Bodnar's BU0836A controller. --Aviation is the art of throwing yourself at the ground, and having all the rules and regulations get in the way! pimp Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 It's a known bug when flying over mach 1.0. i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals
Beeroshima Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 It makes the pulsing sound similar to a missile when you view them in the f6 view. I've noticed it's around mach 1.0 I suspect it's related to the speed of sound...not sure if it's a bug or feature.
petsild Posted June 2, 2018 Posted June 2, 2018 It's a very unpleasant sound, I'm sure it can be used successfully to torture, but I think that it is a defect. MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4, Kingston 3600 MHz 64 Gb, i5 12600K, Gigabyte RTX 4090, Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus,VKB NXT Premium.
