Today Red has been defeated by Blue, I have been shot down five times by F-14s and I only managed to shoot down one F-5 and one F-14 (unconfirmed, it seems that it broke while turning) hahahaha.

It's complicated, 50% of the time you fight F-14s with the Mig-21.

Was there a recent change to the SRS server settings?

A month or two ago the SRS server settings were changed to show the player tag that was transmitting and also supported expanded radios. A few days ago I was playing Last Man Standing and noticed I lost my expanded radios in the middle of the match and haven't figured out it was me or did something change on the server. Did anyone else notice this?

The expanded radio was a real nice feature although it wasn't realistic. But for gameplay it helped with reducing comms congestion and was a decent work around for the deployed blue EWRs which do not respond on 251. I could switch my cockpit radio to 124 and still monitor 251 on SRS. The expanded radios could also be used for flight comms instead of the whole team stepping on each other on one freq.

I understand that, on the other hand Red players started operating on 251 MHz and others (the regulars mostly) on 124 MHz. That split the team in half and comms for Red became an issue. It all started because of the MiG-15's old and uncompatbale radio system. I'd rather have one or two MiG-15 pilots fly on their own than confusing comms for Red like that.

@SizzleIt is a pretty simple mod to add virtual radios to any aircraft in SRS, regardless of the server expansion radios setting. Of course, modifying your local SRS install only provides the additional radios for you. It would still be useful in that it would allow you to have 124 and 251 up simultaneously. If you are interested, send me a PM.

This is a quite sardonic rhetorical question, ne c'est pas?

But we shall bear witness if the bait applied results in the outcome yearned for.

Most red players are not on srs and whem I fly blue we have merlin doing gci all the time. I guess blue is just more organized and has people on comms. which is why blue wins a lot lately.

And that's why I always try to encourage players to dedicate one session (at least 1 hour) to the Combined Arms module. Not just for the purpose of providing BRAA's, but also (mainly actually) for making the ground warfare alive and assist their coalition that way. One man all it takes. Just one capable player and he can win you the mission.

I know not everyone is as enthusiastic about it as Merlin (Mike-Delta) is, but it really is a great module and is being heavily upgraded as we speak. I used to do nothing but GCI for quite a time and had some great battles against Mike-Delta and other players and with other players as well. The main and maybe only reason why I stopped doing it, is the lack of comms amongst Red players. So, you're right about that one. You watch the whole battle unfold in front of your GCI eyes and provide BRAA's for players that are not on SRS, just to evetually lose the ground game and watch your pilots fall from the sky like flies flying so cluelessly as they often do. That's frustrating and at some point becomes less fun to do. You talk to Ka-50 pilots, mark targets for them, tell MiG's to provide cover, ask Mi-8's to deploy vital assits here and there, etc., but when most players are not on comms all that is futile.

The one and only problem I've always had on the server, is lack of comms. Probably always will be...

It's still using F-15 avionics for now. Hopefully it'll end up as deeply detailed and well-made as the Skyhawk, and then they can shoot for official status.

Operation: Disturbed Pacific

Situation:

RED Airbases: Antonio Intl, Andersen AFB, Rota Intl and FARP Okrytka (on Rota Island)
BLUE Airbases: Saipan Intl, Tinian Intl, the helicopters carrier, Tarawa, and the aircraft carrier, Veinticinco de Mayo

For decades Red held Guam Island while Blue held Saipan and Tinian Islands. The island "in the middle" as some refer to it, Rota Island, is the one where conflicts took place in the last century with the intention for both Red and Blue to capture.

Rota Island has been under Red rule for 13 years. That's 13 years too long for Blue in waiting impatiently for the right moment to strike. Blue commanders had put a plan together to invade and seize Rota Island once and for all.

During the night, Blue ships launched several missiles towards Rota Intl Airbase destroying vital buildings and assets rendering the airbase not operational.
After the night attack, Blue hover crafts landed swiftly on Rota Island's northern shores and deployed several M-113's, Vulcans and infantries. The ground vehicles are tasked with capturing both Rota Intl Airbase and Rota FARP (see images).

---------------------------
Winning Conditions:
---------------------------

- RED wins if both the Veinticinco de Mayo and the Tarawa are destroyed.

- BLUE wins if the following is completed:
   - The SAM SA-5 radar unit is destroyed
   - Rota Intl Airbase is captured
   - The 2 x hangars at Rota Intl Airbase are destroyed
   - Rota FARP is captured
   - The 2 x oil platforms are destroyed
   - The 4 x Red oil/cargo ships are destroyed

---------
NOTE:
---------
Teamwork is the key! Use SRS and get on comms.

Red Objectives:

MiG's:

Waypoint-1 is the location of our 2 x oil platforms
Waypoint-2 is our Rota Intl Airbase

- Protect the ships on their way to Guam Island coming in from the oil platforms.
- Protect the oil platforms around waypoint-1.
- Provide CAP around Rota Island.
- Watch out for enemy ships 20-30 km north of Rota Island!
- Feel free to attack enemy ships, especially, the helicopters carrier, Tarawa.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Su-25's:

- Destroy the Tarawa.
- Destroy the Veinticinco de Mayo.
- Feel free to attack enemy ground forces advancing towards Rota Intl Airbase.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Mi-8's:

- Pick up troops and deploy them wherever is needed.
- Attack enemy M-113's, Vulcans and UH-1's.
- Protect the FARP! The enemy must NOT capture it!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequencies:

EWR / GCI: 124 MHz - Channel 0 for MiG-21's. Channel 2 for MiG-19's
ATC: 126 MHz - Channel 5 for MiG-21's and MiG-19's

FARP Otkrytka: 127.5 MHz

*******************************************************************************************************

Blue Objectives:

Objectives' Overview:

- Destroy the SAM SA-5 radar unit (feel free to destroy the launchers as well) marked on the F10 map.
- Capture and hold Rota Intl Airbase (see image for the capture zone!).
- Destroy the 2 x hangars at Rota Intl Airbase (see image).
- Capture and hold FARP Rota on the western end of the island.
- Destroy the 2 x oil platforms.
- Destroy the 4 x oil/cargo ships on their way from the oil platforms to Guam Island.
*******************************************************************************************************

F-5's:

- Your top priority objective is providing CAP, so that AJS37's and UH-1's can attack.
- Feel free to strike any of the objectives
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A-4's and AJS37's:

Waypoint-1 is the location of the 2 x oil platforms.
Waypoint-2 is Rota Intl Airbase.
Waypoint-3 is Rota FARP.

- Destroy the oil platforms and the 4 x ships on their way back to Guam Island.
- Destroy the 2 x hangars at Rota Intl Airbase.
- Destroy the 2 x tents and the 1 x road outpost at the enemy's FARP.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
UH-1's and CH-47's:

Waypoint-1 is Rota Intl Airbase.
Waypoint-2 SAM SA-5 site (watch out for AAA's).
Waypoint-3 is Rota FARP.

UH-1's Special Ops:

- Destroy the SAM SA-5 radar unit! This should make striking easier.
- Attack the infantries and ground units at the enemy's FARP (watch out for AAA's)
- Provide CAS for our advancing ground units wherever is needed.

* Pick up troops and deploy them wherever is needed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Combined Arms:

The 2 cmdr slots are for players controlling ground units while being on SRS with each other and other players to coordinate their attacks.
You MUST be on SRS as a cmdr operator!
The JTAC slots are mainly for players who want to check out the situation quickly, provide GCI for a group of people or preferably everyone. In addition, you can use the JTAC slot to drive a ground unit. However, the latter requires you being on comms with cmdr operators to avoid confusion and/or causing problems to their attacks.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Frequencies:

EWR / GCI (Callsign: Axeman/Darknight): 251 MHz
AN/ARC Channel 1 for F-5's and A-4's
Special 1 for AJS37's

UH-1's Tarawa Ship: 257.5 MHz - AN/ARC Channel 1

Veinticinco de Mayo: 258 MHz - Channel 71X - ICLS - 12
AN/ARC Channel 8 for A-4's

Hmmm. Interesting. The question is, what am I to do with these? Can I draw a trigger zone? Or are these drawings considered as a tool for better briefing images maybe? If it's the latter, I use the programme Paint 3D from Windows and it's great. Not saying this new addition to the ME isn't good, God forbid, just trying to figure out its actual purpose.

I imagine this will provide the ability to draw on the F10 map and have it display for all players in game. Maybe different drawings by coalition. If this is the case it will have some utility. Instead of using script to draw marks to show locations you can just draw them on the map. Long overdue capability. Plus you could put the PayPal email address right on the F10 map.

Oh, that'd be great if it's meant for that as well. And if it is, thanks for the PayPal hint! And I'd put the SRS freq. there as well to remove that one big message. Hope you're right.

Some ppl dont read briefing so being able to mark/draw everything and see in F10 is great. As I understood this - we can trigger those markers/layers to show up depending on something. So lets say if one mission obj. is achieved other can pop up on map etc.

Yesterday on the mission "when the mountains cry", there was a really good GCI, the best I've heard in RED. Thanks to this I was able to shoot down 4 enemies plus a damaged A10.

Question: The server is running on the stable version of DCS 2.7.6.13436 ?, I thought it was only on the Open Beta.

Sometimes Open Beta and Stable are the same. This is one of those times. Next update will put OB ahead of stable again

@Alpenwolfis there possibilities to add AH-64 with limited weapons with disabled some functionalities (by defining failure on the unit for DataLink ...) in the missions(or some mission) where the KA-50 and Mi-24 are available on the RED coalition until we get AH-1?
