sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Is there any way (apart from mouse) that I can achieve much smoother panning in-game.. say for instance, is there an option to smooth out mouse movements somewhere in the computer settings? Anybody know? Little 2 jumpy for me. Maybe someone could make a mod  in the not to distant future Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
warthogmadman987 Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I agree, i felt that the panning view just seemed to stagger. I hate seeing that effect in movies.
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 yay a supporter...... lol Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
SuperKungFu Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 I believe i read somewhere that setting the mouse to axis in the lock on options helped smooth it out. I never personally tested it since im usually in my cockpit with the trackir. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 ok ill have a crack at it. See how it helps Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Kuky Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 errr... I've never tried this either but just out of curiosity did you set the TDS axis (vertical and horizontal) to mouse axis? PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
SuperKungFu Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Didn't do squat.. unless i didn't do it correctly Did you push up the smooth at the bottom? Also, I think the mouse also has a factor. I think you would see a difference between ball, optical, and laser mouse. Something about the more dpi the better? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 uhh.. Here's what I did. I went into "options" then "input" then i saw "axis" under, some other thing, so i switched it to "axis" and set the mouse. Then I clicked "ok" and "fly" and I moved the mouse around and nothing interesting. Im using a laser mouse. Im thinking that maybe if i slow the mouse down outside of the game it will be smoother? Kifaru Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Never tried this, but you could use your joystick. Just change the the usual pitch and roll settings of the axis's to the x and y axis's of the mouse. You could then control how slow or fast you want the camera to move. Not sure if this is possible and cant test it as im at work. :( I'll test it as soon as i get home though :) [sIGPIC]http://img352.imageshack.us/img352/4178/vaafbannerum6copyyj2.gif[/sIGPIC]
Andrew_McP Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 There's a limit to how smooth you can get mouse panning in LOMAC, no matter how much you slow down your mouse. There's something in LOMAC's code which seems to ensure you always end up with steps. This is the best method I've found so far, but it's not perfect... http://forum.lockon.ru/showthread.php?t=15683&highlight=joy2key If you want smoothness you have to stick to the F3 type views built into LOMAC. Andrew_McP Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Thanks for the link... EDIT: Download link on that page is dead. It took me longer to type this than it did to find an alterative location for that filename using Google. :-) Andrew McP

ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted April 11, 2007 ED Team Posted April 11, 2007 Go into your "Config" folder, and find "views", or something like that. I can't give you the exact path and details now because im at work and dont remember it exactly as it is, but there should be a parameter called "mouseexternalspeed" or something along those lines. There should be 3 of them: mouseexternalspeedslow mouseexternalspeednormal mouseexternalspeedfast This might be wrong, but i will check when i get home and give you the exact text and details :) https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Arrghh.. I knew there was something with your movies :pirate: Thanks Mr. Missile Movie maker guy! :D GA - With fraps, you ever find that sometimes it just DOESN'T record even though you're sure you pressed the record button? Its been happening to me all the time, they just disappear  Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Found the filepath guys. C:\Program Files\Ubisoft\Eagle Dynamics\Lock On\Config\View Its the file called "view.cfg", choose to open it in "notepad" and all your values will be there. Not sure what to do with the values...GA...? Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted April 11, 2007 ED Team Posted April 11, 2007 "ExternalMouseSpeedSlow = 0.4 ExternalMouseSpeedNormal = 1.5 ExternalMouseSpeedFast = 5.5" These are my values in lomac. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
SuperKungFu Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Its the file called "view.cfg", choose to open it in "notepad" and all your values will be there. no, it’s the view.lua file not the .cfg file. Defaults: ExternalMouseSpeedSlow = 1.0 ExternalMouseSpeedNormal = 5.0 ExternalMouseSpeedFast = 20.0 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 r u sure? cause its in the cfg file aswell Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 You are right again SKF. My mistake, I wasn't reading it properly. In the cfg there are just plain old mousespeedslow and not externalmousespeedslow Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
ED Team Glowing_Amraam Posted April 11, 2007 ED Team Posted April 11, 2007 It's the "view.lua" file. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCgJRhtnqA-67pKmQ3A2GsgA ED youtube channel https://www.facebook.com/glowingamraam My facebook page
JonTex Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Another thing you can try, and please dont kill me for mentioning this :D as you may have already tried it, but never the less try this. Its more like doing it manually than using the mouse, which you have more freedom and control over. 1. While your recording , or however your planning to implement the smooth scrolling, Hit F2 then hit ESC. This should bring up the usual dialogue asking you if you want to quit the game yadda yadda yadda. Simply press the ESC button again (I believe thats how I did it) and this should render your mouse useless to pan your view. Now I know your thinking this defeats the purpose but hear me out. As I said before this is a manual method of panning your view that is a lot smoother than using the mouse. Now use either your num pad or the arrows , not sure which one or both might work, to pan your view. You should notice that its very smooth ... the only thing bad I think is the speed starts slow and then speeds up, but this can be easily be fixed by chaning the scroll speed in the settings i believe. If you want to use your mouse again all you have to do is hit ESC and when the dialogue shows up this time you press cancel with the mouse pointer. And voila your mouse is operable again. Hope this helped out Tex:D [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
sp0nge Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 The Numkeys are useless..no offence..but thanks anyway They can't go exactly where I want them to, this is a big problem when recording. :( Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
bramski Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Have you tried Newview? It's a TrackIR emulator but it can also be used without a cam for smoothing out panning and setting up custom views. I've not used it myself for custom views but it dows work flawlessly as a head tracker with my cheapo webcam and cam2pan. http://www.mousevision.com/game/html/newView.htm
