Just this guys, Im sick of hearing the damn "altitude, altitude" alarm sound as well as most warning sounds, but none of the knows of the left panel seem to work...also tried entering a "0" in the A/C submenu inside the data page for the altimeter but doesnt seem to work either...

any ideas? thanks!

Down next to where your right knee would be is the RADALT gauge, it has a rotary switch on it that you can move to change the warning altitude.

This should be set to 40ft when shooting off the boat and 370 ft when coming to to land on the boat during a CASE 1 Recovery.

Look, the regular disabling of TAWS recently killed one of our pilots in the Swiss alp as swiss radar by mistake assigned the wrong altitude in feet - keep it on an live with it, you will be alive much longer

Agreed muehlema . HOw many pilots have died thinking they were smarter than the plane or putting too much trust in ATC?

Too many in Swiss Air Force. None MIA or KIA. We are neutral, remember;)

my altitude warning is set at 5,000ft, for some reason, so maybe my "nagging nora" is an extremely risk averse soul. now that i know how to change it though, she's going to get very nervous, but at least in silence. ;)

Warning tones and cautions are just part of the fighter jet experience.. I can't imagine a fighter headset without all the little beeps and and shouting ladies demanding you to pull up, roll right/left, check altitude, etc.. That being said, you now know how to customise your warning range to your liking, which is a good thing. :)

HOTAS: Thrustmaster Warthog

PC: it's much better now

Now if only there's a way to change the sound to something more soothing

"Pull up, master"

"Altitude, master"

On the other hand if you ever turn your jet off then back on the radalt will never stop beeping no matter what you set it to regardless of what altitude you are so it's also really buggy.

5000 ft is the "platform" altitude.

Is the PLTAFORM ALTITUDE the level in which you intercept a glideslope?

The altitude in which you intercept a glideslope is found on the approach plate (chart) for a given runway, called Final Approach Altitude. That altitude varies depending on airport elevation, surrounding terrain etc, but usually is around airport elevation + 2500 ft. The point where you will intercept the glideslope is called Final Approach Point (FAP). Sidenote, on non-precision approaches you´d talk about a Final Approach Fix, but that´s another subject. :)

Not being an expert here, but I´d guess that the altitude warning would be set to different altitudes, for instance MSA (Minimum Safe Altitude) for an airport, or a minimum altitude as defined for a training (real?) mission.

Thanks all for your replies guys!...as I already said, trying to change the altitude alert level in the A/C submenu under DATA page doesnt seem to work no matter what value I set...I chosen 0 for both Baro and RA and the alert still chirping at random?¿ altitude...the reason I want to disable it is because it still sounds in the external views which drives me crazy everytime I want to watch a replay for a display for instance...

Also, I dont know what the TAWS is nor can find anything in the manual so please, can someone eleborate on this?

thanks a lot!

agreed if you can't handle the warnings and beeps and bloops maybe ur not meant to be a pilot. they serve a purpose.

I dont know why you say this, in my case Im totally fine with the warnings system from the COCKPIT but not from the external views, thats all so if there is any way to get rid of it (or just turn down the volume) I wold love it.

I clicked on HSI page DATA > A/C > BARO. Entered 0 ENT on UFC.

I just saw that you have already put the solution ... And I thought I had been the savior with my video...
