Fraps - Disappearing Footage

Just wondering if anyone else has any problem similar to mine. Mines a real pain.

 

whenever i am in the mood to go video editing, I open up fraps, and Lock on as per normal. I record and whatnot. Then I get out of the game, open up vegas and manage my media. Half the footage that I remember recording is missing so I pick up my joystick and throw it at my monitor.

 

Who else has this problem or has heard of this problem? Its getting out of control and my wallet ain't that fat. :mad:

:lol: hehehe.... that's funny. So your problem is missing video or you having to replace joystick and TV very often? :music_whistling: Just kidding mate... can't help you with this one as I never used this software (for video editing). Also very rarely I use Fraps also, and if, just to benchmark framerate. :joystick:

In case you haven't checked this : might be that you have the commands that start and stop Fraps Recording mapped to your joystick, and that you're inadvertedly stopping the recording (while trying to do something else).

Might be a thought to capture all your footage off a pre-edited track file. That way if the problem re-occurs all is not lost - can just revisit the track file and record again. I daresay this approach will conserve the sanctity of your wallet :)

Well, it would actually be better to throw the joystick at the computer its self rather than the monitor. (The comouter is what i assume is giving you the trouble.)

 

Try using the record AVI tool. (make a track first.)

Monitor is right in front of me though, which means it is more convenient for me to throw at.

Hmm.. i THINK i've experienced this, but it's very rare. Maybe you pushed F12 button and removed the fraps fps counter, so you didnt see whether or not you were actually recording...?

 

Not quite sure...if i knew the correct answer, i'd give it to you.

My counter disappears all the time!! even when i don't press F-12

Well its doing one thing right then... disappearing.. it comes back when it likes!! that stupid thing

 

Anyway I can use Macromedia Captivate to capture? Maybe that is easier

you should see it all the time, and the counter should be RED when recording, and yellow when "idle".

Are you using the freeware or payware version? The freeware version, in addition to a watermark, limits recording time. Is this perhaps the problem?

Ya, The freeware version sucks. I dont have the payware version. I havent had to time or money to get it and actually use it.

My one disapears when I am benchmarking (recording frame rate). I haven't done any video recording yet so maybe it's different when you record a video.
