G3 Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 No TrackIRs?? :) hahahahha, true. my thoughts exactly, whats up with that :D come on guys. it would take only one dude to get a TIR, at first they would all laugh and poke fun at his funny hat.
Aeroscout Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 I cant really tell what that is. He just got shot down and just pushed escape. you can see the recover, quit and cancle options are avalible. And, not only is lockon not the greatest thing in the world to do prefessional training on, but they dont even have TIRs. like gg87 said, what's up with that. DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
GGTharos Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Because a TIR would get you used to looking around 'the wrong way' compared to a real aircraft. Just a guess. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
G3 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 it also looks like they are sitting back to back, i am sure that would cause issues with the trackir's. agreed it is learning to look "the wrong way", but it's gotta be better than looking with the number pad :megalol:
dodger42 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Yup...another bunch of guys defending their country. I'd hang with 'em for a Qingtao or 2, but they'd probably laugh at me for drinking a crap, export beer. :D Do you mean TsingTao? Or is it spelt with a Q in your home town? In China the locals also drink TsingTao. Of course its surprising to see Lockon in there, but perhaps moreso, that they use little 15" CRTs. /D . . . Lockon Advanced Realism with Touch-Buddy
7rooper Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I dont think those chinesse pilots are taking a full training with so many limitations.. No track IR dvices -even if they were using it they'd be compelled to look around the wrong way-, there's no AFM either and besides they're not even using a joystick system with separated modules for throttle and pedals. c'mon they cannot be training seriously with it. What I think they're doing it's rather practice flying formations and maybe having their first contact with the avionics and pit. Kuky Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 There was a bus load of chinese chaps (I wonder if it was the same guys :D) who joined the virtually empty 504 server t'other day naturally I welcomed them all with a good selection of missiles all round :D You made me laugh with this and I have a pretty shitty day today so I'm gonna give you a REP for it :D PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR

SuperKungFu Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 does anyone know where we can find this actual video. I want to see it for laughs. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
7rooper Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 what he means is that when u use a TIR device you dont have to -and musnt- move your head more than two inches because the device magnifies your head movement as if you were turning your head completely. So that's why hes says you'd be looking the wrong way. ...oh I see you own one of those TIR. so why is it that you dont understand? And Ill reiterate this...how is this less realistic than moving your head with your thumb?
Aeroscout Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 For a computer, TIR is the most realistic option... so why dont they use it? DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
GGTharos Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 It's more realistic because you're not unlearning head movement - but that's just a guess on my part. It doesn't look like they're doing anything but staring at the HUD anyway. And do keep in mind, I doubt they really practice formation flying or even dogfighting - they're more likely to be practicing procedures or something of the sort. Again, just a stab in the dark. Ya, i think your right. Lockon wouldn't be a great replacement for the real thing, even though it is a great simulator. Aeroscout Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 True, but it is kinda cool to think that an AF is using our favorite sim... Press G for gear down or up. F for flaps. Press the + and - keys for throttle detents if your x45 isnt working. Pressing E here activates your sorbstyia pods...just like in the real jets. Id be more inclined to guess that they are actually flying formation, considering in the original posted pic...which shows us that they ARE flying formation.
S77th-konkussion Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 I can't imagine the use of a track IR having any adverse effect when sitting in a real cockpit.. Anyway- This could be R&R for these guys.. How could.. nevermind.. I'm not going to say it... [sIGPIC]http://forums.eagle.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=43337&d=1287169113[/sIGPIC]
monotwix Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I think that the TrackIR was taken away from them to simulate a neck cramps, after all a neck cant move with the G-cramps,some times only to one side it moves and stays there for a moment, so to be alert during the blackout ha. In addition to the theory any junior pilot would be better of starting to fly a real jet after flying in lockon if no other proper military-simulator is available. I know the human being and fish can coexist peacefully.
