Hornet updates

How does one update the hornet to the latest version? does it come up on the module manager?

Module updates are included in the DCS updates that usally arrive on Wednesdays. So there is nothing for you to do than updating your game which happens automatically on startup if there is a new update available.

The version # is written too tiny to easily see on the bottom/right of the start screen is there somewhere else that I can find my current version #?

Yes as long as you have started DCS once since updating you can check your dcs.log
