I knew you would be one of the first to grab them. Thanks for the kind comments!

I would love to see these used in a video or even better an official DCS Aggressors campaign mod. Eh-hum, of course for a free license to the mod. Wink-wink, nod- nod.

Been lurking here waiting for these to release. Have to say, they are fantastic! I've been waiting for someone to do VFA-204 liveries and I'm glad it was someone who payed so much attention to detail. Keep up the awesome work!

It was trying at times for sure. Especially last night when I realized there was a dirt layer problem across all the aircraft. I wound up spending about 3.5 hours figuring out how to correct the issue, then recording the steps to fix it in a Photoshop action so that I could automate the fix across all skins and get identical results. There were several other issues I didn't post that required the same process to resolve. I take it as a personal challenge to not let a skin template beat me down. I don't like losing! :P

Oh, and glad I could add another 650MB to your F/A-18C skin inventory. LOL!

Thanks! And I certainly plan on keeping it up.

VFA-204 is my home town squadron. Much like the LAANG 122nd TFW flying the F-15C from JRB New Orleans. In fact, I work with an F-15 driver for the 122nd's wife. She's been trying to talk him into getting me some photos of his bird so I can paint it up for him. Still waiting on the photos.

Great work on those skins!

I think, for a official DCS campaign these skins would need to be implemented into the game/module first.

Thanks. I truly appreciate the comment. Yeah, I don't see ED adding a 650MB skin pack to their core stable release any time soon. But if they ever did, it would be great.

I'm an idiot. I had to go and see how easy it was to convert one of the skins to the current 2017 livery. Lord have mercy on my soul. These things look mean in black trim with the grey nose cone. This was the livery I saw at an airshow in 2017 that inspired me to paint the squadron long before the DCS F/A-18C was released.

They are slightly different in pattern from the real thing but not by much, and not different enough to warrant an entire repaint. I think most changes would be decal color which is a snap.

This one was converted in about ten minutes flat. The others may take about 15 minutes each. Someone give me a reason that I should not get this done in the next few days and release them too.

I'm on it. I already have two of six converted. The pics above are using the wrong aircraft number font. They look even better using the AmarilloUSAF font they have in real-life. I would expect to have these completed by end of week. This will be an adversary pack and not an aggressor pack as they lack Russian insignia.

Yes I do plan to nail that one down. It's next in the pipeline along with the legacy CAGs. The pack will be called VFA-204 "River Rattlers" CAGs and CoNA. It'll be a couple weeks out. I'm doing the black trim adversary schemes now even though I said I was going to move onto the CoNA. Reason being is the camo skins are fresh in my mind and it would be easier to knock the remaining ones out now instead of moving on to the CoNA. Trust, you will get the CoNA unless I die suddenly.

Well, I'm head down again on the circa 2017 birds. Not going to happen by the end of the week. I'm painting number 405 right now and it's super patched. But, i want to do it to see how it turns out. There's two others that will need significant paint changes as well. It'll be worth the wait. i just can't bring myself to take the shortcut of just changing the tail color and fonts. These birds are screaming for detail. So..........

I'm eagerly awaiting these birds too, as well as the CAG and Line birds. VFA-204 is my local squadron as well, but I live closer to Baton Rouge. I talked to a few VFA-204 pilots at the Belle Chasse airshow last year, and they were super nice guys!!

Thanks Don. I have it already.

Jetguy. I'm in Madisonville. I used to live in Terrytown on the Westbank of New Orleans. When I was a kid, On Saturdays, I'd watch the LAANG fly the pattern in F-100Ds and then the F-4Cs when they transitioned to those from my roof with a set of binoculars. Sometimes they would fly right over the house. Miss those days.

Gents,

Both packs have been updated with the correct flight suit patches. Thanks to Mrjollyroger103 for the heads up and the assistance in locating the correct patches. Since I had to upload the packs again, I took the opportunity to increase the size of the aircraft numbers on the flaps of all aircraft. Tomorrow, I shall get back to work on the 2017 pack. I have three more birds to finish painting for that one.

Wait until you see the black trimmed ones in game.

I should also mention, those of you that are not using the "ReShade" GPU post processing application in the game, should be. The light grey on these aircraft has a blue shade to it that only shows up properly when Reshade is running within DCS. I highly, highly recommend using ReShade with HDR enabled. You'll never fly DCS again without using it. It makes that much of a difference to the game. You can find it here https://reshade.me .

Ooh, those sound like some great times. Especially watching F-4's. There's nothing quite like the earth-shattering roar of two J-79s in afterburner.

When I worked in the tower at NBG (c.2002-2005) we used to see the GAF Phantoms from Holloman AFB pass through from time to time. It was awesome working those old horses. I agree with Jetguy nothing turns jet fuel into smoke and noise better than J-79s
