Path is:

F:\Games\DCS World OpenBeta\CoreMods\aircraft\FA-18C\Textures

 

And the Visor DDS Files are:

 

pilot_F18_visor.dds

pilot_F18_visor_filtr.dds

pilot_F18_visor_roughmet.dds

 

Messing around with it:

8L0HURu.png

pilot_F18_Visor.dds is orange-ish

pilot_F18_Visor_filtr.dds is purple

Insert the correct name of your own texture file between the last two quotation marks and change the very last part from true to false.

 

Do that for all the F18C_BORT_NUMBER_KIL lines to remove the standard texture from the tail. There are perhaps more of these errors if you haven't changed them for the other bortnumber placements on the nose and flaps.

For all country ? Finland, SWITZERLAND, etc... ?

 

 

In "F18C_BORT_NUMBER_KIL_R_10", 0, "f18c_2_dif", false};", what does mean numbers, "0" in this example ?

I'm not exactly sure for Finland & Switzerland but definitely for Kuwait, if a part of it is still present you need to try and change the other countries.

 

The 0 will call up Diffuse textures, while 1 represents Normal maps and 2 RoughMet textures.

Can somebody help me ? I found the template in XCF file for gimp and I am able to edit them and export them in DDS.... but then I am completely lost on the DDS settings to use..

 

with the standard settings my skin are all screwed up in game.

Compression to DXT1 or DXT5 with mipmaps generated, it will only export the chosen layer. So merge all layers down to one in another XCF file. Or export to .png, open it and re-export to .dds format.

It seems like doing paints for the A-10C was easier when it came to the description lua file. I thought I changed everything I needed to but when I load the skin in dcs I have the generic texture mission skin. Also I can see where the vStab is but cannot seem to find the rudders to paint with them.

How to create/remove silhouettes on F18 pilot patches

 

The original US Navy patch silhouettes appears on my skin.

How can I create my own or remove this?

Im being a bit lazy, but has anyone located in the textures the location of all those white antenna's and gadgets that are white, ive got most of them, but im scratching my head with some of the spike looking ones etc, Im going against Standing orders and want to paint them......:pilotfly:

You have to Create new Normal/RoughMet files for Patches.

What .LUA lines do I need in order to edit the interior canopy glass? I havent been able to find what I think is it in the example .lua for cockpit interior thats been shared already. I find the current texture a bit too pixelated and would like to add some reference lines for situational awareness. Also is it possible to increase the resolution/size of a texture or must it match the original? Because if the canopy texture is the one I think it is it's a very small low res file.

To modify the Cockpit Pilot body you have to create a custom cockpit livery, or add the pilot texture call to the description.lua:

 

{"pilot_F5_FP", 0, "Pilot_f18_fp", false};
