I love flying in VR, but due to resolution limitations I often have to lean in to see some instruments/displays clearly enough to read. I have VR zoom bound to a button on my HOTAS, but I am sure like most of you, I have to use the mouse to operate about 90% of the non-HOTAS switches in any given cockpit.

My first question: Is there a way to bind VR zoom to the mouse (like a mouse 4 or 5 button), so that I can zoom in while clicking on switches?

My second question has to do with some of the text displayed often during training missions. In VR, it seems that often times the window that bounds the text is too small, and there will be text that runs past the window, that is hidden from me. Is there a way to either scroll down in the text window, make the window bigger to fit all the text, or even shrink the text font-size?

I'd like to do this all without editing any code if possible, but would be willing to resort if necessary!

Thank you, I think this is one of my first posts on this forum.

I am of the same opinion regarding this stuff.

I've tried to change mousebuttons to keyboards through software, but DCS still does not recognize it. A mouse zoom key would be cool indeed.

NBot sure what you mean about the window text thing? I know that most of those windows can be moved though. Not sure how though.

Also, something that would be extremly useful is mouse pointer that is independet of head movement.

Since you can have multiple binds to a control in DCS I have VR zoom on my HOTAS and a key, then use my mouse software to bind that key to one of my thumb buttons.

I've not played DCS in VR for a couple of months now but I used to do this the opposite way.

I'd leave my mouse cursor in the middle of my view and I used JoyToKey (https://joytokey.net/en/) to bind a joystick button to mouse click.

That way I can use VR zoom with one key / button on my joystick and (with the mouse cursor in the middle of my view) I can simply look at what button I want to press and use the second button on my joystick (modified with JoyToKey) to "mouse click" on the switch.

I found that worked really well and meant I never had to take my hands off the HOTAS to work 90% of the cockpit switches. I think rotary dials were the only ones that were still a bit of a pain.

Note: JoyToKey is shareware and $7 for full licence. I think you can use the shareware version if you're only wanting to bind one button/key though.

Just out of curiosity what is the difference in using JoyToKey to bind a button for a mouse click versus just assigning the mouse click to a button in the UI setup ?

I really appreciate these ideas ... both ways makes sense, but I use the mouse wheel too much to be limited to a single button on the joystick (with the A-10C I don't have any spare buttons anyway).

I will try the workaround, but sure wish ED would implement this at some point (sooner than later).

In terms of the training missions subtitles text getting cut off, I will have to try to get a screenshot of it.

About the a10c. I use the mic switch front and back for the left and right clicks, up and down for mouse wheel, and much for zoom. You don't use the mic switch that much. And I have rebinded the mic switch to CMS switch + paddle as modifier

Here are two examples of what he means by the dialogue text cut off at the bottom:
