Have both myself and my wingman fitted with 3 droptanks - Centre and both inboard stations.

 

This is just enough to get from Al Dhafra to the Iranian coast, whereby when both fuel totalisers come into synch, I punch off the tanks. This would be maybe 30% into the mission.

 

My wingman however, does not punch them off and there seems to be only a menu for ordering him to jettison weapons, not empty fuel tanks.

When he calls bingo, I have to send him home immediately and even then he seems to flame out in the pattern.

"Two Ejecting" is a distressingly common radio call.

 

I do try to keep engines at 90% in the cruise so he can keep up without tapping the reheat and turns are gentle.

 

I think the drag of the tanks are preventing him getting home, whereas I continue to fly the furthest waypoints to the end of the mission and still get home with 3000lbs.

Sorry but this is not true at all. Google and you will find many pictures of real legacy hornets with 3 bags. Geez, even the first image in wikipedia shows one...

This comes down to the limited menu/radio system in dcs. There are some options you don't have, fence in, fuel state etc

And by the way, whether realistic or not, the problem reported here is independent from the number of bags carried anyway. So let‘s get back to the issue itself pls.

Agreed. There are many missing. Some that are pretty important, ie Go to Tanker, Fence In/Out. There are some I have no idea what they do, like under the Reconnaissance tree. Anyone use those?
