Nealius Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Track attached. Flying with two wing tanks, reduced fuel in the ME to (IIRC) around 15% or so. When on the ground the fuel reduction appeared to change internal fuel and not the fuel tanks. After takeoff, as I climbed out, the internal fuel increased to a more normal quantity.
Magic Zach Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 It's always been this way, for all aircraft. I wouldn't call it a bug, so much as a quirk of the simulator. The slider only affects internal fuel, yes. Nealius Posted August 6, 2018 Author Posted August 6, 2018 That makes low-weight, high-payload takeoffs with intent to refuel on departure rather difficult. Especially when we have carrier based aircraft like the Harrier and Hornet that really need that capability.
Magic Zach Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Well, I can see your point now. For now, all I can suggest is start at 5% internal, and draw from your externals as soon as you're off. Guess that will have to be a partial workaround for now. Sandman1330 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 Not at my computer to verify, but doesn’t the load out manager in the ME have 2 options for external fuel tank, one full and one empty? I seem to remember seeing this somewhere... AG-51_Razor Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 The fuel slider in the ME is labled INTERNAL FUEL. The Harrier does have the option of loading an empty external fuel tank. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Nealius Posted August 6, 2018 Author Posted August 6, 2018 The fuel slider in the ME is labled INTERNAL FUEL. The Harrier does have the option of loading an empty external fuel tank. It should be relabeled. The "internal" fuel slider affects the "FUEL WEIGHT" value, and the weight value is total fuel, not internal.
Sandman1330 Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 The Harrier does have the option of loading an empty external fuel tank. Ah, that’s where I saw it. Seems like an easy fix, add that option to the Hornet. Makes sense for both aircraft.
