Mudeagle Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Dear DCS Pilots, I'm sorry for the banality of the problem, but I can not manage the movement inside the cockpit and the clickable mouse at the same time. Maybe it's an incorrect setting. I saw on a video tutorial of Eagle Dynamics that the movement inside the cockpit is very easy and does not preclude the ability to click the commands. On the contrary, I have to continuously switch LAlt + C to move from mouse movement to clickable mouse. Why does this difference? Thanks
Etirion Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 Most people are using TrackIR or some other form of headtracking (VR works too). Thats why you see a lot of people have no trouble moving the camera around while clicking on stuff at the same time.
BottledViolence Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 What he said. ^ It's amazing how much easier it gets once you have some form of head tracking, both situational awareness and cockpit controls are much improved.
Lange_666 Posted August 27, 2018 Posted August 27, 2018 but I can not manage the movement inside the cockpit and the clickable mouse at the same time. Maybe it's an incorrect setting. Same here, with TrackIR i can't keep the mouse in place, or better, keep the picture where the mouse is. Most of the time I need to pause TRackIR, flip the switches or turn the dials and then unpause. Creating a dead zone helped only for the part where the headtracker is in the dead zone. donkeyrider Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 There is a youtube video by Spudknocker that shows how to set up TrackIR. I found it very helpful.
Mudeagle Posted August 28, 2018 Author Posted August 28, 2018 Which TrackIR brand you would recommend to me ?
danny875 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 Which TrackIR brand you would recommend to me ? I’ve been using the track clip pro for years and it’s great if you use headphones as it clips onto them. It’s a little delicate and you’ll always want to put your headphones down so you don’t damage the sensors. I think I’m using the trachiR 5 software. It’s been a long time since I thought about it, maybe I’ve got the 4 with 5 software? Dunno.
Hog_No32 Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 I‘m using my TrackIR for more than 10 years now and still have the original that I purchased back then running with the latest software (v5 IIRC). A very faithfull device which has probably seen more than 3000hrs of usage without any glitch! Must have for flight simulation (unless you go for VR of course).
Banzaiib Posted August 28, 2018 Posted August 28, 2018 TrackIR is by far, the best $100 i've ever spent. Eat rice and beans for 2 weeks to save for it if you have to. It'll change your life.
Oraton Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 trackhat.org is a budget option. Haven't had any problems with it. Easy set up and pitch, yaw, roll, x, y and z axis can all be adjusted. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
TechRoss Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Another fantastic option - https://delanengineering.com/
Garyss Posted August 29, 2018 Posted August 29, 2018 Which gives the better tracking without glitching; the clip pro or the three point hat "assembly"? Or it it solely dependent on the software settings and elimination of outside light sources? I just found this old post when googling which is better. https://forums.naturalpoint.com/viewtopic.php?t=6493 Worth a read of all 15 posts, I’m not sure if anything has changed much since then in terms of concept. I wouldn’t like to wear a hat and headphones... Edited August 29, 2018 by danny875 Link
colin519 Posted August 30, 2018 Posted August 30, 2018 just wanted to chime into say the Smooth preset in TrackIR software works well for me, if its too sensitive its hard to click sometimes. Trackclip pro is considered active IR as it emits IR light. trackIR hat clip is passive and just reflects light emitted by the camera and is considered less accurate. in my experience. it was a giant pain in the ass to use the trackclip pro and it's assembly is just about the cheapest you can possibly imagine. i use the hat option and it's much better, hat and headphones is better than headphones and a power cord and clip thingy that is made like crap. I hate wearing a cap especially in summer so I have the hat clip zip-tied to the top of my headphones. Looks a bit funny but works well
