fael097 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 hi, I'm planning on buying an oculus rift headset, and I read online people adding a third sensor for better tracking, mainly for tracking the controllers when your body gets in the way. me, I don't plan on using the controllers any time soon, I'll just have my headset and hotas. do I get any benefits from having a third sensor? like, does head tracking suck when looking back 180º with only 2 sensors or something? or I don't need a third sensor at all for this? Brewnix Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 You should be fine. I use only 2 sensors and have no problems and I don't use any controllers. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
some1 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Even one sensor is usually enough for sitting experience without controllers. falcon_120 Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 I use 2 sensors in front of me and I can say that the tracking is flawless. I have never experienced and jitter or loss of tracking.
dburne Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Agree, I have two sensors on my desk - one on each end - and never have tracking issues even playing some Oculus Touch games. Only reason one would really need a third sensor is for fairly large scale room tracking. My play area is around 9ft x 12ft and working great for me. BTW I said the same thing, I would never really need the Touch controllers - but once I got them, that all changed. Still combat flight sims are my main gaming, but I do also enjoy occasional forays into Touch supported games. Greyman Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 Before I got my second sensor, looking over my shoulder, to check my six for example, could cause the odd stutter, but it has never let me down since.
ElementLT Posted September 10, 2018 Posted September 10, 2018 if you are using your Rift mainly for DCS I would simply stick with the two sensor that it comes with. no need for a 3rd. Coming Soon... The Fraternity Returns : https://thefraternitysim.com/
