Mouse_99 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 I wanted to redo my stick and throttle HOTAS layout for the F-18, but I forgot what is the command for the nose wheel hi gain? I was looking and looking through the commands listed and I don't see it, or don't realize that is what I want. All I see are the disable nose wheel steering. a little help here, please :)
gary palmer Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 press the same button or keyboard key you currently use to enable nose wheel steering a 2nd time ( will need to be held down and at same time use rudder ) only works at very low speed of aircraft.
NeilWillis Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 It is also affected by the configuration of the aircraft - launch bar down = no hi gain. As long as you have a nose wheel steering button mapped, it'll work as advertised.
rassy7 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 launch bar down = no hi gain. This ^^^ Also, be very careful not to engage this on the takeoff roll at any point. LeCuvier Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 It's the command "Undesignate/Nosewheel Steer". Normally when you are on the ground and have weight-on-wheels, nosewheel steering is automatically engaged. Pressing this button then increases the gain of the NWS. BuzzU Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Also, don't go too fast when you have high gain activated. It won't steer but just understeer straight. Not good on a carrier. ;) Buzz
Eagle7907 Posted October 5, 2018 Posted October 5, 2018 Wings folded doesn’t require continuously pressed NWS button. Makes sense when maneuvering around tightly spaced aircraft.
