Well, while the 21st December sounds like the logical date...did we ever had a module in pre-sale for that long time? I honestly can‘t remember, but nearly 2 1/2 months sounds pretty long.

As there is no release date, aren't we jumping to a lot of conclusions? Though winter does begin on December 21st, so maybe you have a point.

The thing with all purchases is they're optional. If you want to hang on to your hard earned cash a little longer, I am sure Heatblur will be happy to take payment whenever you're ready.

As for the hype - we have already been waxing lyrical for months. The video maybe feeding the beast, but it was already wide awake! It is an iconic plane, and highly anticipated. I'm guessing the comments about pre-release and not full release came from a newbie. Clearly he hasn't been around for many module launches!

Guys it's very simple if your concerned that it's not released in 2018 then don't buy it, IMO heat blur has been open about the timeline and has also stated that if for delays that are uncontrollable or some new issue comes up, it could be possibly delayed.

I say release it when its ready, don't feel pressured because some kid who's having a temper tantrum does not understand the words patience

Lads do what i did, glue some old f-14 model wings to your house cat and chase it around the room....

Well it keeps me amused while we wait anyway.

You deserve your break this year Cobra, hope it comes true for you and your family, and for all the other member in the HB team.

Well considering that the F14 was supposed to be released BEFORE the F18, and the state of the F18 at its EA release (or its current state), Id say that Heatblur is sitting pretty right now.

If they released tomorrow we would probably have a more complete module right now than what the F18 is at right now, Im guessing they are taking their time to complete the module and do a lot of polish (that most devs, including Eagle Dynamics) leave for much later during early access.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

I am still in shock! The reveal was OUTSTANDING! I loved this bird all my life and knew what to expect but what I saw still surpassed my expectations...

As to the release, Heatblur website states this module will become available "in winter". I'm probably wrong but it so happens that winter starts December 21st, the same day the Tomcat had it's first maiden flight in 1970. It is also a Friday... ;)

Same here I expected a top natch module seeing the mig-21 and Viggen and they still surprised me how good it looks

and a Dec 21st release would be a really nice classy touch. I understand if it doesn't work that way, it just doesn't work that way.

I'd rather have the quality heatblur has been delivering then a nice release date or a rushed release

It’s interesting how much the hype is building around this supposed 21st release. It really does seem like such a fairytale. Heck I’m starting to subtly wish/hope for it to fall on the 21st just so we can celebrate it being all of our first flights also being on the 21st. But I still have a feeling that it might be a 2019 release. I hope for Heatblurs sake that it isn’t, but the way thing have gone for them in development and the track record so far on the quality might lean towards more development time being needed.

See the crazy thing is that the F-14A would be not as far off from being complete at the F/A-18s current state since like the F-15 the A model didn't have hard-points and avionics for Bomb deployment (I'm pretty sure I'm remembering this right)

Yeah and if the extra time they need means modules like the MiG-21 and Viggen then ok with that

I don't really understand the relationship between Leatherneck and Heatblur, especially as it relates to the MiG-21. Can anyone help me out?

Originally there was Leatherneck and they released the MiG-21, later on they announced the Tomcat (End of 2015). Initially when releasing their first module they were just 4 guys, the team grew to twice the size until they split up due to different interests in which modules to develop. The other team around Dolphin (the FM guy who actually flew the real 21bis in Serbia) then became Magnitude 3 who kept the Leatherneck trademark.
