Of course, most of % will use modman. Goya, the whole point will everyone use the redflag LOCERF mod to allow all of aircraft to show up on all coalation, of couse it requires modman. that isnt the vote poll I wanted to see.

again, I know how to use MODMAN so I vote Yes.

I know what it is, I know roughly how it works, but I don't use it because I don't use a lot of Mods (the fictional Su-25T skins, and Birdie's original manual edit of the meninit (?) that added 150 or so items to the ME object browser, some Teka Teka tweaks that were manual edits.) mainly because it seems to me that a whole lot of threads in the bugs section have either 'I had that problem too - it's caused by such & such a mod' or 'I installed this mod & now everything is FUBAR, I'm re-installing' somewhere in the thread.

But I didn't see that option in the list.

Cheers.

For the record, I'm not interested in it.

I had issues with some of the sound packs and other mods with the older LoMan, where the mods were not put together properly and wouldn't uninstall, leaving me no choice but a full reinstall of LOMAC to actually get rid of them.

Once bitten, twice shy so I decided that the only mods I'd install after getting the download version of FC were ones I could put in and take out manually (so knowing that the original files were properly backed up since I'd have backed them up myself). At least this way if something goes wrong I've got no-one to blame but myself.

I may be missing out on a very useful tool (and I'll happilly admit that I have no idea if the actual automated install uninstall has been improved), but I'd rather miss out on something good than waste an activation due to one badly put together ModMan package.

Please make your own poll then. If you have a question different from mine to ask the community, ask it.

I understand, LOCERF mod has nothing to do with Modman itself. the thread about LOCERF MOD specfic to that mod not modman. that is the reason why u started the modman poll anyway, no big deal.

I just drop it, and let the community handle it, I don't care, Smile!

I voted yes. I am not much into mods, however, when I need some, modaman is the easiest way to do it.

I use it even though it doesn't work perfectly with all of the mods.

Modman sometimes gives me problems with installing/uninstalling certain mods. It will sometimes install some parts of the mod in the wrong location. When I decide to uninstall the mod, it sometimes (in my experience) does not uninstall the mod completely leaving some bits and pieces.

It could be a problem with Modman itself or the improper steps taken by the creator of the mod making it Modman compatible.

If I want to try a mod. I would just back up the original folders where the mod will be installed so that if something goes wrong I know I can go back to original state.

Even with these shortcomings I still use it to identify the folders where the mod will be installed specifically. I voted 'Yes' ;)

The only mod I use is the Walvis F-15 model without using Modman.

Maybe a very noobish question but what kind of advantages brings Modman exactly?

A bit strange question, I think... Everybody from this forum SHOULD use it.

First - very useful system of adding mods and skins

Second - You can change graphic settings without quitting the programm

Third - You can also add your textures by using built in CDDs browser...

and so on ...;)

Waiting a new ModMan 6.0:thumbup:

All these years I have used “ExtractTextures.exe” for that.

For editing the xml’s I use .NET 2005

Something else?

PS. I voted “I don't want/like it” but I mean I don’t need it!

You haven't used the addon manager? Or... Is it easier for you to add addons manually?

The two people who answered "I don't understand it" should post here and let us know how we can help you use ModMan. Or even a PM if you don't want to post in public.

Good suggestion! We can help everybody;)

The "ModMan mods burned my house down, drank all my beer, and knocked up my cat" arguments are usually from people who are incapable of reading, or unwilling to read, the instructions that come with the mod.

If I can read the instructions to edit the meninit file, I can read the instructions for Modman & any mods that may be around.

What I don't do is have faith that most of the mods have benefits that outweigh the probability of their messing up the install, based on the number of people writing in the bugs thread about their experiences of mods doing just that.

If I don't have a use for mods, I don't have a use for modman.

But that's a judgment call for the user I'd have thought.

Cheers.

Never had a problem with it so far, perhaps I've been lucky and never tried a badly made Mod.

Loman/Modman is another example of the excellent Utilities that have come from the French Lockon Community.
