Nightmare22 Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Has anyone else noticed a change in the Harrier hovering characteristic since the latest update, having to max out engine load to maintain any sort of hover even if unloaded and have minimal fuel which inevitably uses all the water and burns the engine out - it's acting like it's constantly overweight even with as little as 1000lbs of fuel and nothing loaded.
FoxDelta Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 i am not experiencing this, might try a repair? my projects: https://www.sim-addons.com/ https://www.shapeways.com/shops/sim-addons-1 AV8B nozzle lever https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=233670 F18C fingerlifts https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234747 F18C radar elevation https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=248080
ZeroReady Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Is it possible you are in the Persian Gulf and it's hot out? It will be difficult to hover above a certain outside air temp.
Nightmare22 Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 Is it possible you are in the Persian Gulf and it's hot out? It will be difficult to hover above a certain outside air temp. A point I never even considered! Thanks for the tip - I've just started using the Nevada Desert map again!! - Thanks for both replies i'll see if night time improves the engine performance
Esac_mirmidon Posted November 23, 2018 Posted November 23, 2018 Remember that Nevada average altitude is higher also. Nothing in common trying to Hover at sea level than at 3000-4000 feet. Nightmare22 Posted November 23, 2018 Author Posted November 23, 2018 I've played DCS a lot and I still neglect how much they model this game - thanks for the response, I'll be changing the mission to be ,dark, snow, sleet, with 20knt head wind and head for the base of the mount tonight before hovering! :-)
Nealius Posted November 24, 2018 Posted November 24, 2018 I seem to do fine with ~3000lbs fuel, clean, at Nellis on a 26C day.
