Just read de APG-70 posts, if ED wants to go for APG-70 modeling then they should raise the bar on the russian planes too. APG-70+AIM-120C (decently modeled) would efectively give the F-15 a massive advantage.

It -has- to be an APG-70 or APG-63(v1) to fire the AMRAAM. Right now the F-15 definitely does not have the massive advantage it -should-, not to mention it's a little extra porked on the side thanks to the 120.

Not really ED's fault ... just the way things turned out. A lot of it was stuff done with good intentions that didn't work out as planned.

Speaking of Radar, I've a question about the realism of the Russian designs. The concept of searching blips on the HUD is ok. But it just strikes me as odd that the HDD display is just empty space other than TWS and Datalink data. The real thing must allow a pilot to get attitude information from the HUD while searching with the HDD. Otherwise, in weather or at night, a pilot is placed in the disorienting position of flying heads-down and searching heads-up. Not an easy thing to do.

My DCS wish list: Su25, Su30, Mi24, AH1, F/A-18C, Afghanistan ...and frankly, the flight sim world should stop at 1995.

Yes, there will be no balance between VVS and USAF:(

Of course IRL there is the plane’s silhouette on the HUD in search regime. On real MiG-29 (9-12, 9-13, 9-51) the IPV display works ONLY as a HUD repeater (no matter what regime), with the difference that the far right vertical line where the search area ends is not displayed on the HUD, also the scan area position in the vertical plane is shown only on IPV display, there is the antenna bar number currently scanned where in the same place on the HUD is the gun’s remaining rounds information.

On RL Su-27 there is tactical information/ hud repeater option for IPV display, selectable with a switch on IPV, TAKT/DUBL. This switch is also found on some later-series MiG-29, but it does nothing. The other minor difference I know of is that in radar/IRST search regime on Su-27 the plane’s silhouette on the HUD doesn’t have the vertical “tail”, only the wings, but in lock regime, nav and all other there is the “tail” like in MiG-29.

Bottom line, the decision to not include in LockOn bank angle on HUD in radar search regime was indeed very silly.

Whats that binocular looking thing next 2 the HUD.

... Except this one)))))

Yeah, I've noticed it too... I have no idea about this...

It is insulting, that in “Lockon” tactics normally for Su-27 did not realize, then it would be possible to organize flights by group and to be engaged in interesting things as distribution of the purposes in group, and the image of tactics on IPV should look so

I remember reading that some F-15s were fitted with rifle scopes to aid long range identification ... honestly!

Really? Wow, that's amazing))) The F-15's cockpit with this scope looks like the WW2 one

Yup. Mostly for when the ROE required a VID - which basically kills the 90% that makes the F-15 as good at A/A as it is.

Quick guess - IFF antenna or sidelobe guard horn, though AESA radars already have pretty suppressed sidelobes ...
