How do I use TACAN and ILCS?

Last flight, the TACAN, Course and ICLS were not working. Last update broke something.

Had an issue with this myself on 2 flights. Was practicing traps and after lining up and launching lost both tacan and ICLS. I simply entered them in again on the catapult and found i needed to punch in "on" twice using the UFC. Not had the issue again though. Punching on twice sorted it for me.

Open beta, FYI just as i mentioned had it twice only. And the resolution as stated punching ON twice.

I just noticed problems depending on the mission, erratic TACAN ICLS not working

 

Downgraded DCS to a previous version, upgraded again, fixed.

It's in Open Beta. I tested several mission and all have the same problem. I don't know if it's only Hornet or other planes have the same problem.

Current Open Beta, the TACAN and ICLS are working fine. If something is not working, either the mission is messed up or you are some how using it wrong.

Perhaps re-save the mission while checking all freqs working is required? I just have a silly question is ACLS working or has it not been implemented yet?

I flyed the instant action CASE I, CASE III and multiplayer on Through the Inferno.

 

 

I setup like the other times, input the TACAN, input the ILCS, tried to input the COURSE (no course line displayed on HSI). It didn't localize the emitter, don't show the correct direction and distance to carrier and tanker.

 

I was only reporting something wrong here, if it happen only with me, I'll be waiting for the next update to fix it.

make sure you are boxing TCN and ILS on the MPCD. They are the top to buttons on the left hand side of the screen.

you have to turn them on. hit the ON / OFF button to the far right of the UFC buttons.

 

Also, turn that landing light off!!!

 

 

press TCN, enter number, press enter, then press the ON / OFF button. Then press ILS, enter number, press enter, the press ON / OFF Button. then box them on HSI and then enter your CRS. enjoy.

So i was doing some training with Tacan today and noticed that when entering a new airfield code, the tacan wouldn't work, the bars would just spin on the HSI. Tried clearing everything, turning off tCN and re-entering and I'd still get the same result. Any ideas?

Make sure it is on X band and that the A/A on the UFC does not have a : next to it. Also, make sure you are in line of sight of the airfield and that no mountains are between you and that airport.

Hey Strike, I double checked that everything was in order..I guess the only thing I didn't do was make sure I was in the line of sight. If that's the case, does tacan become useless if the aircraft isn't pointed in the general area? Kinda makes that type of navigation pointless if that's the case eh?

it doesn't need to be pointed at it, but the aircraft needs to be able to receive the radio signal. When I am flying in the mountains doing a deep strike, deliver my ordinance and turn for home, I box TCN for the carrier. If i am not well above the mountains to where the radio wave beam can hit my jet, the TCN will just spin (search for the signal) on the HSI. Once i climb high enough, the jet will pick up the TCN signal and then I can navigate home.

I had this issue with Khasab airbase for a long time until I found out about how the mountains around Khasab can interfere with the TCN radio signal. Now if im high enough, I can receive the signal.
