Hi

I'm having an issue with the profile management in DCS.

I have FC3 and have profiles for the A-10A and F15C and I also have the A-10C component.

I have set up profiles for all three and named them ALa10a .diff.lua AlF15C..diff.lua and HOGREAL.diff.lua

The problem I find is if I switch from say the A-10A profile to the A-10C profile all hell breaks loose and I have no control at all.

I load from the "Load Profile" tab and find that there are setting loaded in that I have not set for example my joystick setting for pitch and yaw have completely disappeared.

This is of concern as it is a nice break to just go into FC3 and play a more simply game play. However having to totally remap 50% of the controls does take the pleasure away.

I have the Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS and the Thrusmaster TFRP pedals.

When I go to 'Load Profile' the path is C:Users/my name/Saved Games/DCS/Missions

This is where the game saved them not where I chose to save them. I just mentioned that in case it means anything.

Any assistance would be gratefully appreciated.

You only set controls once for any aircraft you want to fly. No need to change profiles since they are saved separately for A-10A and A-10C (and others) automatically in different files. \saved games\DCS\config\input\...

The only time hell break loose is when some update mess with it :)

That's why I highly advise to backup the input folder and load profile from the backup only when something is messed up.

Do you by any chance want to load profile from A-10C to A-10A or vice versa? These are not compatible at all!

As the A-10C and A-10A commands internal naming and function differ profoundly you have to map them separately.

As the TM Warthog HOTAS is automatically mapped in the A-10C module, you would only have to change the joystick hat to the trim commands instead of view and assign the rudder. Pretty easy.

As Draconus said there's no need to be loading anything - it's done automatically. When you jump into any aircraft you're already using that aircraft's specific profile.

And to further re-iterate what Draconus said - do get into the habit of saving your Input folder (I regularly back-up my entire Config folder).

Hi thanks for the info

However if I simply use say the A-10C sim control setup my rudder pedals are recognised as "TDC Slew Vertical (mouse)" and the rudder control is assigned to my Joystick Yaw.

This is the reason I went through and set up all the settings. Then "Saved the Profile As"

My problem is that when I go to Load Profile" they don't load what I saved. And yes I do have back ups.

afair Save Profile saves only the selected column (wich are settings for a selected input device for selected aircraft) so loading it into the wrong column (or different aircraft) would be a mistake. You select column by just clicking any assignment on it.

You don't have to save anything if you don't change profiles/devices frequently. The controls changes are saved automatically.

And yes, the game has default profiles that may not be perfect for you - that's why you set it as you want it.

i think you need to save your devices separately. Example: Joystick_MiG21.lua and Throttle_MIG21.lua

Yes thanks I'm kinda figuring this out. Nothing about this game is simple. :detective:
