DutchCoolHand Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Let me explain, I am 85% blind in my left eye, I have peripheral vision but black/grey spots in the center due to trauma. When I look with both eyes open I don’t see the black spots and have limited peripheral vision on the left. Can I use a VR headset? Would it work for me or would I miss half the image? So any one eyed VR pilots here? Strikeeagle345 Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 I can't say, but, the main part of the VR experience is the headset showing two different images on each eye to give the illusion of a 3D space. With that in mind, I am not sure you will get that effect or not? dburne Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Regarding periphery vision I can tell you this from my experience. I have what is called right homonymous hemniopia. I see nothing right of center looking out each eye. I only see left of center, so I have very limited vision. I was very concerned about this when I purchased my Rift in Jan 2017, but I am handling it just fine. Actually the more limited FOV of the headset makes it appear a little more normal to me with the headset on. Obviously I can't speak to your other issue with black/grey spots. Thanks for your reply, I dont see the black spots as in my brain the right eye "fills" those spots. I just have to try it out some where. Anyone in Maryland? MilesD Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 My neighbor who has very limited vision in one eye tried my rift and said it was great, and felt 3d to him. I was surprised, so I closed one eye and it had a similar 3d feel, especially when moving your head laterally. I would do what Strike eagle suggest to see if its a good fit for you. OneSlip Posted January 8, 2019 Posted January 8, 2019 Without lens I can’t see with my right eye everything very blurry and I tried to play without lens and I found I had limited FOV. Couldn’t see part of the hud like speed I have to move head to see it. Otherwise it’s feels flyaable
DutchCoolHand Posted January 9, 2019 Author Posted January 9, 2019 This is encouring to hear, I will go find a place to test it. I would still like to see it with DCS. As said anyone near Maryland USA, I don’t mind driving a few hours to see it.
