KiraTheCat Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 My squadron is having some questions as to the exact nature of which version of DCS will be able to run the F-14B. We have a Stable DCS game version running on our server. There's also the Beta DCS game version. The F-14B will apparently be Beta at release. The confusion is with regards to weather the BETA F-14B will require the BETA game version in order to run, or if we will be able to run it on our STABLE game version server. Will we be able to run the F-14 on just one or both versions of the game? If only one, which one? Thank you!
Sergeant_Hamlet Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Almost all new aircraft are pushed to the open beta branch first, and then to the stable branch the following week. It's a safe bet that the 'cat will be the same.
Naquaii Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 Our F-14B will release first to the open beta branch and then when ED feels that open beta version is ready it will then transition to stable. This is how things are usually handled in DCS afaik.
Strikeeagle345 Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 keep it mind, if could be pushed to stable the following week, or it could be weeks until stable sees and update. shagrat Posted March 3, 2019 Posted March 3, 2019 keep it mind, if could be pushed to stable the following week, or it could be weeks until stable sees and update. It usually depends on how many (critical) bugs are found in the open beta. Not necessarily to the F-14, but any module. If a beta release have any game breaking bugs, it will take longer to transfer to stable, as the bugs are usually being fixed, before. I doubt the F-14 will introduce any game breaking bugs, but it's only one part in the equation. It took 3 patches in January / February to get a patch to the stable version. The current OB build is a train wreck as well, so take that for what it's worth. LcSummers Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Hopefully ED will push this module fast enough to the stable version.:) Hopefully no bugs will be found, so i can put my hands on the "grumpy cat." I only have the stable version and cant wait for the Tomcat.
