steelrfan85 Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 What is LTWS? I’m not familiar with the terminology. I know it is track while scanning but what is it used for? Air? Ground?
NeilWillis Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 It is Latent Track While Scan. We'll have to wait until Wags releases the how-to video for details about how it works and what it is used for.
steelrfan85 Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 I saw in wags update recently talking about LTWS but I didn’t know if that was for ground radar or not. I was sent a thread about status of ground radar but saw nothing except the LTWS and the new bombs.
Weasel Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Here you get little bit more information about LTWS: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3621774&postcount=238
steelrfan85 Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 Ok so it’s still A/A not A/G. Am I missing something about ground radar status? The mini updates page doesn’t say anything recently that I can see unless it’s in one of the other 14 pages in that thread.
Manuel_108 Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 Take it with a pinch of salt, as I don't have any info on this other than what has been communicated by ED so far but I am quite certain that the A/G radar will probably be one of the last items that is going to be added to the Hornet before it reaches v1.0 at the end of the early access period. The original coder of the A/G radar left the company some time ago, apparently.
steelrfan85 Posted March 4, 2019 Author Posted March 4, 2019 Well that’s disappointing. I’ve never owned a DCS product so I don’t know a typical timeline for an early access product. I fly the VRS F18E in FSX. Hopefully at the end of the early access it will be fully functioning.
Kirbs454 Posted March 4, 2019 Posted March 4, 2019 (edited) LTWS, or Latent TWS is a mode in the Hornet that is a blend of RWS and TWS. While in RWS with LTWS boxed, the radar will essentially perform TWS in the background. Radar contacts will still show up as bricks on the screen, however the radar is also creating tracks for what it considers the eight highest priority contacts it can see. As you can then quickly check the information about the contact (mach, altitude, heading) by hovering your cursor over it. You can also rapidly cycle between available tracks by hitting the “undesignated” button. Edited March 4, 2019 by Kirbs454
KittyVCAW-1 Posted March 5, 2019 Posted March 5, 2019 Be patient, I have full confidence these guys will give us an awesome module when all is said and done. Keep an eye on that thread and when they have something to tell us they most certainly will. The transparency in the dev process is second to none that I've experienced. I wish the big AAA developers would take a page from these dudes I'm really impressed. Nobody likes me because I'm unsafe.

Since last update, when I put my cursor bar on a contact, I get the Mach, speed and aspect ratio info. I had thought it was a bug but am I taking it as a piece of the LTWS.
