[NO, NOT REALISTIC] Wapoint change keystroke?

Hi my Hornet bothers...

Is there a way to change waypoints without using the HSI page?

Reason: under various tactical circumstances, example initial point to target, it is most problematic to try to switch to the HSI page to alter the waypoint.

In an other sim I wont mention, there is a key stroke that will alter waypoints up and down.

:)

Well it may sound a little frivolous but as I say it's really a major tactical issue IMHO.

OK.

If the real F18 doesnt have that option fair enough.

But, my mousing over the OSBs surely is unrealistic as far as time is concerned as well.

Still might useful to have a keystroke option.

Having said that, is there an auto waypoint advance option?

Get some of the TM MFDs, makes switching WPs more natural when you can push a button and skip the mouse. There is an "AUTO" feature on the HSI as well, somewhere, can't remember where specifically as I don't use it.

There is an Auto feature, the button is in the bottom right corner of SA and HSI.

If you keep HSI or SA always on the same screen, you can assign appropriate buttons to your HOTAS.

While it's not realistic, I agree that we need a key command as we are not sitting in a physical cockpit with actual DDIs and OSBs. Mice are predominately right-hand only, meaning we would have to take our right hand off the stick to manipulate the DDI unlike a real pilot who would most likely use his left (throttle) hand to interact with buttons and switches, while keeping his right hand on the stick. This is precisely why I've mapped the flaps switch to my HOTAS. Yes it's unrealistic, but due to the restrictions of working with a mouse and 2D screen that has no peripheral vision, realism in this case is impracticable.

As a workaround, if I know I need to switch waypoints in a stressful situation, e.g. a popup strike, I switch waypoints 20-seconds prior and mentally count down before I turn towards my next waypoint.
