OK so after all day of testing between different aircraft and the three maps i have installed ( Nevada, Caucasus and Persian Gulf) the Persian Gulf map is certainly a problem. Something is wrong with that map. Sorry dcs but it's the map as everything else in my sim works perfect and all my other maps work perfect also. I'm guessing it's something in the texture mesh when the map was designed,... something, somewhere got overlooked and it's causing serious lag along with stop and go, stop and go, stop and go. Very bad.

I can not fly in this map at all.

In the last week i just purchased three planes, the f-15 campaign for Nevada, the Nevada map itself and the Persian gulf map a few days ago plus i have many other items as well in my purchase history for DCS and none of those are a problem anywhere else in any other area of the sim. Only the Persian Gulf map itself is the problem.

Being that I'm an repainter and modeller of aircraft and terrain, again i can only guess it's in the mesh and textures of the map because it doesn't matter about how much detail is in the map based on the users settings but rather the mesh and texture itself has an bad enough problem that settings of detail have no cure so the map itself is causing these huge problems.

I posted an video before actually purchasing the Persian gulf map flying the f-15 in the Nevada map which you can see in the video and screen shot forum named: DCS F-15 in Nevada... you can see in that video how nice my sim runs and all detail is turned up to max. This is how everything runs on my system but when I load the Persian gulf map everything comes to an near stand still with very high lag, stutters and about an 3 to 5 FPS rate. It's horrible.

Please, DCS go back over the map and find out what the problem is and please correct it or rebuild the textures and mesh or whatever the problem is. I know it's the map. It's too pretty to have these problems.

Also i deleted temporary files in two different folders to try to free up these issues but that didn't work.

I hope something can be done with this map cause everything I've tried just doesn't work.

Thanks DCS...

Ive tried several things but not sure what you mean about "Repair".

Is there a separate built-in repair option?

I didn't see anything like that. I did uninstall it and then let the system re-download it through the module in the game and then it logged out and installed it again.

The first time i installed it i used the torrents as thats the default download operation but the second time i canceled the download so that it went to the HTML download option and let it download and install that way but it's the same as before and still really bad.

I don't get it... this is the kind of stuff that drives people nuts!.

I mean everything else, every other part of my sim works perfect, just not this map. I would make a quick video but it might take all day just to make 5 mins of it LOL.

Have you deleted your FXO and metashaders folders lately? Then run game and they will be recreated. Can’t hurt

Yeah did all that with the temp folders and deleted the files.

I'll try the repair now and then try the sim again.

If that doesn't change anything then I'll just take everything out and clean out the whole sim and reload the original World. Then I'll install the PG map and load the sim and see what happens without any other addons and then work my way through my addons loading the sim each time with the PG map.

Oh SNAP! where's my coffee pot! Time for more digging :gun_smilie:

OK so re-installed the sim, went into the settings and set up the options and loaded the frogfoot in default sim as you get with only the main sim and it all went fine and smooth as ice. All settings are turned up as before and all is running perfect.

Closed it out and went to install the Persian Gulf map through the module option, it closed to desktop and begin downloading via Turrent option. After it finished the DL and went to install it then there was a huge error that something didn't get downloaded and it never installed anything.

I went back into the sim to start again and DL the map again but this time I choose the HTML option and am currently downloading it now. I'll let you know if this one installs.

OK well I got the map running at blazing speeds now. Went and purchased an new graphics card. I still don't understand why the other maps were blazing speed with my old card but not Persian Gulf. That should of worked the same. I did notice that with my old card when I reinstalled the sim and then went into the PG Map... it was really smooth but I didn't have any other aircraft installed, only the default world aircraft and the map was great.

After installing the F18 the lag was back. I took that plane out and then tried the AV8B, same thing, bad lag. I took that one out and then loaded my Flaming Cliffs 3 and flew the F15 and a couple other planes and the map was smooth as silk.

This tells me that because the addon aircraft are so graphically intense that you just need more power to read the graphics on these planes.

Just like when repainting aircraft for FSX Simulator... I save all my work in the 8-888 32bit format but most people run their aircraft in DX5 which is a bit less on the sim. The 32bit 8-888 format also allows me to repaint the skins in an 4096 size which produces awesome visuals but for some users it will cut down on computer performance so I can just guess that this is what was going on here on my end with these planes. I was right on the edge with the PG map and the high graphic addons i had installed.

Anyway,... an new card did amazing wonders and now I'm happy. Case Closed.

Thanks to all for chiming in with your advice and trying to help me out, I really appreciate it everyone.

Cheers!!

Please be so kind and share the rig spec incl. both cards, cpu and ram.

Specs:

ROG Maximus Hero X

Intel 8700K CPU 3.7 minimum

16MB G-SKILL 3600 Ram

4GB EVGA GeForce GTX 1050TI -- Updated to 8GB EVGA GeForce RTX 2070

3 HDD's - 1TB, 560mb, 250mb for miscellaneous programs and storage.

Samsung EVO 860 SSD Internal 1TB (for sims only- DCS, FSX, P3D and X-Plane) will be adding two more EVO's soon.

Corsair RM1000i Power Supply

3-230mm Fans, 2-140mm fans, 2-Noctura 140mm fans for CPU (push pull)

Rosewill THOR II Computer Case (White) Full ATX.

Windows 7-64 Pro

-----------------------------------

Here's the thing... You have to have everything set up for cooling and how the air is cooling the system rather then for just looks. I built this system and it took a while to research designs of cases to allow the right placement of fans based on where the components were mounted for the best cooling possible. The key to any air cooled system is to have "Positive" air flow.

That means having more air pulling out then the air coming in causing an suction effect across the components. Most cases today are designed for eye candy.

Most people are drawn to how they look with all the lights but they don't realize that when you enclose a case in glass or have hardly any access for air to "MOVE" then all your doing is causing warm air inside to swirl around and nothing will ever get as cool as it could. Look anywhere online at computer cases... the first few pages are nothing but advertising eye candy to draw the customer in because they think "oh that looks pretty" no matter how little the cooling actually effects the entire system. Most don't get it.

The key here is "Heat Rises" so on my system with the side cover in place... I have the 230mm fan drawing air in on the side, an 230mm fan drawing in from the front over the HDD's, two high speed fans on the bottom (one with the Power Supply) These four fans are sucking cool air inside while the CPU fan's, the fan on the back and the fan up top (another 230mm) are all sucking air out but at a faster rate then air coming in. This is known as an ram effect and it's the only way to get this kind of cooling with an air cooled system. Most cases don't allow this.

I don't like water cooling, call me old school or whatever but there's just too much at stake that could happen if water comes in contact with electricity, it's not 100% preventable... sooner or later.

Below are the actual numbers under load during an flight last night.

your temps are fine. might want to check your hard drives, I had bad stutters from a brand new Hard drive and it was a bad controller unit on the drive.

you can tell this when its making a loud noise to access the drive.

Yeah the drive i had DCS on was about 3 months old and it was a finer quality HDD but it wasn't making any noises and always ran smooth.

That was the very first thing i thought about actually when all that lag starting happening. Won't matter now though as everything is on SSD.

Thanks for the reply and your suggestion.
