Force_Feedback Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Why the F would Russia fire a Kh-58 at a Georgian installation on Georgias territory? This indeed smells like foul play. The Russians may hate Georgians, Asians (Chinese) and others deeply, but this doesn't justify the political agenda. No way a Su-24 would legitimally launch anything while intruding foreign airspace. People may think otherwise, and they do, but the government is not stupid, even if they have their own imperialistic/geopolitical agendas, they simply would not risk such incidents. Smells like an unauthorised launch or some navigational error and jettisoning of the missile. BTW, there is a pic showing the warhead being 'deactivated', gives a nice impression on what really happens on impact. The Kh-58 reemmbers the last location where the radiation came from (simply put), so if the radar remained stationary, the missile would at least fly to the vicinity of the installation. Raised_Dead85 Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 From what i read in the LOMAC FC manual the kh-58 usually switches to back up radar to keep going. Its way to sophisticated to be that cheap just to wall to the ground and not to do anything unless some how Georgia has built a EMP defense system! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
mcnab Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 The Russians may hate Georgians, Asians (Chinese) and others deeply, Although I'm not Russian, I'm sure if I was, I would feel kind of insulted. You make Russians look like a xenophobic nation. I'm sure this was not your intention and maybe a poor choice of words, but this is how it looks like. Anyway, I don't know what to really think of the incident. It makes no sense to deliberatly attack Georgia with an antiradar missile just to slam it on some hill. I think it was an emergency jetisoning MAYBE caused by some guy on the ground who was too much triggerhappy.
Vekkinho Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Guys, there never was any Su-24 over Georgia, so chance of someone jettisoning Russian owned Kh-58 over georgian airspace are quite low. Coordinates indicate that Su-24 was deep in Georgia and it obviousely flew quite low if engaged by Strela-2, Kh-58 being the only missile that was jettisoned. Quite hard to believe... Esac_mirmidon Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 It seems to be another fake history from Georgian Goverment about the " Russian Bear attacks again " Nothing better to scare your own people with this stories to forget your own domestic problems. I'm sure this was not your intention and maybe a poor choice of words, but this is how it looks like. It's my fullest intention, and yes they are, what we could define as xenophobic, I don't think it's bad though, a matter of cultural differnces and the way life was for a long time (antisemmitism is widely accepted for instance, and when I say here something about Jews, be it negative or positive, it's all like 'how dare you?'). Cultural differnces, I don't judge Russians (and Ukrainians for the same matter) by that. Although officially such things don't exist, it surely is widespread, in all generations. Even though the more educated youngsters know that it's a silly and stupid thing. And don't get me started on what Moscow is fed to think about Georgians. But, as always with propaganda, there are a few people that realise that they are being manipulated. I believe the same thing is at play during this incident, showing your average Russian that nobody messes with your homeland, maybe to shield Georgian businesses. Until you see he footage of millions of baootles of Georgian wines being smahed by highway pavement rollers, you may think Russia has nothig against Georgia, and Georgia is making it all up. Well, it's not the case. Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:
mcnab Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 It's my fullest intention, and yes they are, what we could define as xenophobic You talking this from your own personal experience with Russians or just knowing things? You actually used the word "hate". You seem to know a lot to blacklist the whole nation just like that. "Russians hate these, these and these." I know quite a few Russians and at least those few out of 200 milion don't seem to be hating others, so you might be wrong at least a little bit.
