I installed a new drive and reinstalled windows 10. I moved the DCS folder from my old drive to the new drive and did a repair.

Now when I launch the game it asks for all my serial numbers for each module, but once I'm in I'm logged in with my user name and password and its fine, they all work. I just have to keep hitting exit on every module before the game launches.

any fix?

thanks

... its fine, they all work.

Are you sure that they work? ... the newer modules like the Mirage, the C101, the Harruer, F18 and F14 should work because they use the newer protection, with no keys. But the older aircrafts that still use Star Force, will not work without activating them again, as a disk and windows change is enough to trigger an activation.

wow you're right. They are all showing up and all my instant actions and missions are there for each module, but when I go to play them I'm stuck in the map view and cannot get into the cockpit.

so what am I supposed to do?

Well hind sight would have been to de-activate each DRM-ed module before you upgraded.

If you go ahead a re-activate the DRM-ed module(s) it will now cost one activation for each module you activate unfortunately.

You can check the status of your modules on your ED profile page.

so I have to reenter all my serial numbers then?

Also I looked it looks like most of my modules have a 3/10 activated.

what a silly system, why would they only give you a certain number? I paid for it, it should be unlimited, its only able to be used on MY account, I cannot give away a serial number.

silly stuff! imagine if steam did this, stupid

It is unlimited. When you use them up it resets to +1 after 30 days. It's to prevent mass piracy, which is the whole point of DRM. You are the one who did things backwards, so it's a self inflicted wound, unfortunately.

''imagine if Steam did this''

Microsoft DOES do that (your operating system, remember?), and it is NOT unlimited, so not sure where your faux indignation comes from, it's not uncommon.

So, you didnt read the manuals, but somehow it’s the software the stupid one? :)

you could have just stopped at saying its unlimited, this makes sense and its no longer silly or stupid.

Like I said, I can install steam games till my hearts content.

True but DCS modules will end up like steam and modules will be locked to your user name.

I'd say the DRM interface is not well thought out it's impossible to tell what the state of a module is e.g. activated or deactivated when in module manager and don't start me on serial numbers when you buy say all the WW2 fighters as a "pack". Your left with a reference to the 'pack" on your ED profile page with 4 or 5 serial numbers and no way to tell which serial is for which aircraft.

Starforce itself isn't that bad not taking into account the somewhat over zealous hardware limitations, for me it's the user interface. Oh and do not attempt to deactivate or activate in VR always switch to 2D screen first.
