Gun rounds counter

When doing a cold start, we have to set the Gun Rounds Counter. The Tomcat hold 676 rounds but I cannot set it to that, only 670 or 680 as the third digit is not changeable. Is this how it really is? On a hot start, the counter will read 676 so there must be a way to set it exactly.

At 6.000 rpm, having a delta of 6 or 4 rounds not displayed is essentially worthless, though, to be honest. :D

Out of curiosity I am wondering about that too, though.

While a difference of 6 or 4 rounds on the counter does indeed not really matte, I wonder how the counter can be accurate during hot starts?

Its not about the missing rounds its about the accuracy of the air frame. some people are anal ab out such things

I just set it to 650 since I usually have it set to 50 rounds cut burst in the ME at the moment which is pretty decent for a strafing run as that burst usually gets me a kill... if it shows empty, I still have a few rounds left for one last lucky shot.

Ah, the last digit being there on hot start is a slight bug, will fix. We used to have it showing all 3 digits, then SME feedback was that the last digit was fixed 0 and the counter could only be adjusted in tens. We changed it thusly, but evidently forgot the hot start setting.

Actually...

> On a hot start, the counter will read 676 so there must be a way to set it exactly.

I can't reproduce this, it shows 670 for me... plus the 3rd digit anim arg isn't even in the code anymore.... So I'm not sure now what to do about this?

I'm sure I saw 676 in the hot start missions, but will look into it this evening and give you feedback! :)

I don't find any case of 676 rounds anymore, either, so I guess all is fine! :)

Okay, thank for clearing that up...the 676 was a mistake as the third digit always stays on 0.

FYI...the M61 section of the manual still has a screenshot showing 676.

Also, the manual says that the indicator counts down from 650...what does that mean?
