DarkStar79 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 When i fly in VR as a RIO in the F14. Its really hard for the neck to look behind all the time in a fight. So are there any way to make a snapview somehow so i get the VR view at 6 oclock? I have tried, alot but cant get it to work?

DarkStar79 Posted April 22, 2019 Author Posted April 22, 2019 Yea but is there a way to make a snapview looking back? I know I can move around and change views but its always facing forward..
Gman109 Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 I don't think so. I fly a WW2 online MMO game that has incorporated the ability to look behind/6 o'clock while in VR, using a hat/keypad/whatever. I find this to be very helpful, since VR doesn't take into account the eyeball's peripheral vision - in VR you have to have your head almost at 6 o'clock to see 6 o'clock, where as in reality, you can look straight back if you get your head to around 4 or 8 o'clock position thanks to your peripheral vision ability. IMO this makes VR much less advantageous than say TrackIR, especially in PvP fights - and a button allowing straight back/6oclock view while in VR would help make up for this IMO. nibbio Posted April 22, 2019 Posted April 22, 2019 should be possible in SteamVR, thanks to the latest OpenVR advanced settings https://github.com/OpenVR-Advanced-Settings/OpenVR-AdvancedSettings which includes a snap view with customizable angle: Quote Snap Turn: Allows snap (instant) turning by the specified angle. Can type in values or use the preset buttons for angles that neatly divide 360 degrees. Must bind actions via SteamVR Input interface. that you can bind to any button of any VR controller: I can make it work in IL2, but not in DCS, even when running DCS in SteamVR mode.
davidp57 Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I think it should be possible ; it's simply a matter of pausing the tracking, turning the pov with the "camera rotate" keys and then save the snapview. And I confirm : snapviews work in VR. Zip - VEAF :pilotfly: If you want to learn, talk and fly with french-speaking friends, the Virtual European Air Force is here for you ! wormeaten Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Did you try to use the open track? there is an option to use Rift or SteamVR as a source for your head movement and then you set up your head like in TrackIR. That will allow you to move your head 100° to one side in reality and in-game will be 180° and all of this can be set gradually so for example first 60° could be 1:1 and from 60° to 100° gradually increasing to 1:1.8.
Lancelot2022 Posted November 15, 2019 Posted November 15, 2019 Use a swivel chair. You can rotate in the chair all the way around to see the tail if you have a rear sensor.
Lange_666 Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 Did you try to use the open track? After reading through this topic i thought of giving it a go and i can say that it works but it needs much tweaking to get it right and up to this moment i'm far from there yet. Whatever i use as a setup, i haven't found one that doesn't makes me nauseous and that's only when sitting on the runway. Once airborn it's even worse. What worries me a bit is that it even happens with 1 on 1 settings, so with no amplified movement at all. Fri13 Posted November 16, 2019 Posted November 16, 2019 What should be done is to limit the easiness to look rear in all other systems (trackir and custom view) as VR is far more realistic. While some do have narrowed FOV, it is still realistic how you just can't look at rear so easily. Especially limitation is required when you are pulling high G's i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.

Unfortunately you tried and didn't work but you know you do your best.
Lensman Posted November 17, 2019 Posted November 17, 2019 I'm surprised no one has mentioned the easy fudge for getting an 'over the shoulder' view. Just map the 're centre' view to your HOTAS. Now to check six, turn your head to 3 o'clock, hit 're centre', move head to 9 o'clock and you have a comfortable check six. To reduce any VR nausea shut your eyes while carrying out the procedure. Only takes about 1 second to perform :) Intel Core i7 6700K @ 4.5GHz. Asus-Z170-PRO MB CORSAIR H105 HYDRO CPU COOLER. EVGA GTX 1080Ti FTW3 Elite. 16GB DDR4 2666MHZ HYPERX SAVAGE.
