Svsmokey Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 For DCS no problem with only one base station at all, and I never use the controllers. aaron886 Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Everyone's talking about 2160p panels on the Reverb as if they're going to be viable for flight sims. They're not going to give you better image quality than the Index or Rift S in almost all cases. Actually the Reverb apparently has a very small sweet spot anyway. Considering that DCS is not going to be viable above the resolution of the current generation of VR and PC hardware, we should be focusing on subpixel resolution, lens quality, field of view, SDK quality and support, etc. Who knows, maybe ED will get serious about VR performance and working more on their engine vice modules, but history indicates otherwise. Anyone with both a Rift and a Vive want to weigh in on the quality of Valve's Motion Smoothing? I've heard ASW is significantly better than MS, and Oculus probably isn't going to slow down any time soon.
Callsign.Vega Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 The question for me is HP Reverb or Pimax 5K. I was hoping somehow that Index will be half and half but it seems to be far from half. What do you think guys? I have the Pimax 5K+ and am not impressed. The resolution is not very clear. I am definitely getting a Reverb. Lack of clarity is by far my #1 gripe with VR. dburne Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 Ugh, well I pre-ordered the Rift S hesitantly. Have had a lot of interest in the Index, but that price is a bit of a hit especially as I would have to buy the entire kit at 1k. Also not sure how I would set it up in my area, don't want to get into mounting things on my wall. Nagilem Posted April 30, 2019 Posted April 30, 2019 As a Samsung O+ owner, I am struggling more with outside the pit clarity than in. I can see the gauges, hud and DDIs, what I can't see well are any units outside 5-7 nm. That, and having the headset move as I pivot my head to see my six and have the sweet spot go out - feels like looking through coke bottle bottoms at that point, and equals an automatic loss of sight (and with it, the fight) I am squarely on the fence. My primary use case is DCS - I may play other games, but it will always come back to DCS. I like both Oculus and Valve because they are the primary software developers... Not sure I want another WMR, as that has been rather difficult at times to make work consistently. I think I may have to wait for further reviews. I don't think I want the Reverb or the Pimax 5k+. Too many software issues for me. :pilotfly: Specs: I9-9900k; ROG Strix RTX 2080ti; Valve Index HMD; 32GB DDR4 3200 Ram; Samsung 970 EVO 1TB SSD; TM Warthog with pedals, 3 TM MFDs
