Vino Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 What a wonderful plane! I have some issues to understand Autopilot and Flight path marker logic. How do I engage ALT and HDG AP? And FPM: It seems that I´m descending over 3000ft/min, but FPM shows that my flight path is 10 degrees over horizon? If someone could explain me these things? Thank you. :)
r4y30n Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 If all your panel switches are good you may need to hit the NWS button on the stick.

Thank you. :) Remember that the pitch ladder on the HUD is depressed and not aligned with the horizon. If you look at your screenshot, your FPM is actually below the real horizon which is an accurate indication of your actual path of flight as seen with your 3,000ft/min descent rate. Take a look at artificial horizon on the VDI, it shows you in a descent as well. i5 7600K @4.8GHz | 1080 Ti | 32GB 3200MHz | SSD | DCS SETTINGS | "COCKPIT"
Greyhound11 Posted May 7, 2019 Posted May 7, 2019 Also your VDI is showing nose attitude. you can be descending and have a centered VDI, which took me a bit to get out of my head about

Vertigo72 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 Your stick need to be centered when pressing NWS button. And if you have a force feedback stick, then that is causing your problem, as trimming interferes with the center position on a FFB stick.

I'm using TM Warthog, so that shoudn't be the problem.
Vino Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 Should the plane chase the HDG bug, when HDG AP is pressed? I know I'm missing something here... :D

Vino Posted May 8, 2019 Author Posted May 8, 2019 The autopilot still won’t work. I don’t have any idea what I’m doing wrong here. Hornet was 1000 times more easy to learn.

Biggus Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 It's seriously an easy AP to use. I have a warthog too, I still put in a very small deadzone. I only use alt hold though, I haven't gotten my head around the other ones as yet. All I do is activate the main AP switch which is a bit like an attitude hold. Then when I am approaching an altitude I want to maintain, I switch on the alt hold switch and when I reach that height, I press the nosewheel button. You will see when you have AP active and altitude hold on but not yet engaged, there will be a warning light that says something like AP hold or the like. It's on the left side of the VDI from memory.
Vertigo72 Posted May 8, 2019 Posted May 8, 2019 It doesnt always work for me either. Sometimes it works without the AP light lighting up, sometimes it doesnt work although its on. I did notice two things: - auto wingsweep seems to mess things up. Try setting it to manual or bomb mode. Ive had much more luck activating AP that way. - When I press control enter, I see my trim going way out of whack when the autopilot actually works. That may be normal if the autopilot steers through the trim, Im not sure. Bit trim is weird period, at least in combination with FFB . Pressing trim forward can do what you would expect, or almost nothing, or the opposite depending on where my stick is?
