I can fly a severely underpowered one which means I can't practice and develop BFM tactics with it, which is what I do most in the beginning and a huge part of enjoying the module. The big lack of performance with increases in altitude makes it so that all the opposition has to do is climb and the F-14 is rendered a sittin turkey (pardon the pun).

As a result since the last update I've mostly just practiced BVR, but that has gotten pretty repetitive at this point (esp. since Jester doesn't know how to use TWS).

You're exaggerating a bit. The DCS Tomcat has some thrust issues, but they're not nearly as big as you describe them.

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I think HB's patches have fallen victim to ED trying to push the VR improvements in the next update which obviously takes time to be properly tested and ironed out.

Since I fly the F-14 now almost exclusively, I wish ED handled this in a better way and had a plan B option to just push out urgent module fixes separate from their own complex platform changes.

This is how bad rumors get started. People speaking like they know facts. Wags' mentioned they're waiting on some 3rd party aircraft to be updated to the new 2.5.5 branch before they can publish the latest OB update.

Sorry but when thrust with altitude decreases at the rate of missing an entire G in STR already at 15 kft (DCS: 3.3 G vs RL: 4.3 G) , then there is undeniably a big issue, esp. since it gets even worse as altitude increases. HB also acknowledges this, making it clear that the issue was caused by an error in their FM testing tool)

In addition to this there is slightly too much drag at high AoA atm, but the main issue is obviously thrust related.

Its certainly draggier at low altitude. Before I could keep it in 15AOA and go around without burner. You cant do it now, in fact, even in burner you sometimes have to slacken off.

I dont mind. It making me a better pilot for when it gets fixed. Then there will be death and mayhem on the servers.:pilotfly:

Sorry, but not this week. The next Open Beta will be the move to version 2.5.5, and we are waiting on a few 3rd party aircraft to be updated to this new branch before we can publish it.

Thanks

Well that doesn't really sound wrong by itself, and afaik it's at even higher AoA that there is a slight issue, not that I am sure about this ofc.

Infact at SL the performance doesn't seem that far off atm, but as altitude increases it falls further and further behind RL performance, making it obvious that there is a thrust issue.

I'm 100% with you Hummingbird... learning the ACM feel is very difficult right now given the thrust reduction in the last patch, and BVR is very tough without at least having TWS auto.

Thank you so much Iron Mike for the response. It is nice to know that you hear us. I would be satiated with an ETA on TWS auto functionality...

And your ignorance is mind-boggling.

What am I missing? Did I miss the update since that update over a month ago on a work-in-progress that costs $80? Was there another ED update in the past month that HB DIDN'T skip on the F14 that I don't know about?

Don't resort to name calling...especially in one-sentence posts.

Maybe patience is the way to go.

That's the best advice possible for a potential HB customer!!!
