Issue with Oculus software.

frame rates jumping all over from 37-80 (Oculus Rift S) 37 is cockpit looking at ground near airport 80 is looking out at sky climbing out, level flight 40-55

I've got weird results with my fps recording on the RiftS.

 

I disabled ASW and set all graphics options to a reasonable minimum, and my computer pushed up to 80 fps, as planned.

 

I did reset my settings to something more nice (the settings I had before).

And I noticed that, while my fps is now lower (as anticipated, it lurks in the 50s), even with ASW off (confirmed in Oculus Debug Tool) it never goes below 40 fps - not even 39.9 !

This is measured with the Oculus Debug Tool performance hud.

Try also turning off "Adaptive GPU Performance Scale" along with "ASW". One other thing I did was to set my PD through the Tool and set my PD in Sim to 1.0. I am getting 90 fps in the cockpit...although my system is a little faster than yours. Give it a shot and let us know if it makes any difference.

 

Yes , i have been running with "adaptive performance" off and got a performance boost that manifested itself on my system , and with my settings , as increased terrain shadow draw distance and the elimination of the side-look micro-stutter . Weirdly , still locked at 45 , although no complaints as the experience is very fluid .
