Alternative to TIR?

I use the clone of TIR, and it’s pretty good, except when combining left/right with up/down at their limits, then it gets either stuck or wonky.

 

I’ve heard there’s an alternative that uses something—magnetics? Some form of magic that doesn’t bind the movement of view.

 

Please tell me about it, if known.

Some chinese guy developed the AimXY, which use the environment magnetic field and wireless, has no dead end limits, you may buy it from Jack Mas's Taobao website.

I think you are looking for EDTracker:

I dumped my TIR3 in favour for it and definitely do not regret that step.

Problem with EdTracker is the lack of 6DOF... If 3DOF is enough for you...

Some guys running it in hybrid-mode with TrackIR or other webcam based headtracker.
